Family trip exploring Paris
We had stayed at a HappyCulture hotel for our first trip to Paris two years ago and looked for a property with the chain as we has so enjoyed our stay. We chose the hotel as it was close to everything we planned to see in Paris and had family rooms (adjoining) so we could be together as a family. The hotel is great and the rooms are good. The balconies are simply a window with a bit more depth overlooking the street. I was disappointed that the HappyCulture chain appears to have discontinued some of the spirit activities that made the hotel chain so unique and fun. You can still pop into any of the hotels and use the washroom, grab a coffee or umbrella. Ours never had any macarons in the lobby although an empty plate was there so perhaps in small quantities you can have snacks. But the happy hour feature at hotels is now gone, I loved looking on the app to see where a hotel was hosting champage that we could pop into. We also had received a great gift (key chain) at our last stay and complimentary popcorn and movies in our room. This time the experience felt less personal with no extras, no gifts, the staff would make you a dinner reservation but not know anything about the restaurant - often the suggestions were tourist places and not very authentic. This was disappointing as the hotel staff usually are the best source of local places to try with amazing food. I am not sure I will seek out a property for my next stay, the experience felt like staying anywhere.

Paris in Winter
Was in Paris for the da Vinci exhibit at the Louvre together with my son. Loved the stay at the Belloy - great location (walking distance to the Louvre), comfortable and chic room with all amenities, very friendly staff.

Hallway smells like a porter potty and hot rooms
It was an okay to not okay stay. The halls smelled like a toilet; the rooms were unbearably hot and when we called to ask if the AC unit could blow out cold air instead of heat - we had a disgruntled front desk person say they would and it worked through the night then the next day it went back to heat we called again to ask about the cold air and we were told it was “impossible (even though they did it last night) and to turn off the unit and open a window.” It’s fine to open the window during the day however, at night it would be too loud to sleep with it open due to noise and to have it closed itd be too hot. So needless to say it was a rough sleep. The halls are very narrow and you can hear people slamming doors. The bathrooms are nice and updated, some mold in the shower. The rooms are incredibly small unless you get a suite. The 4 stars is laughable, this is 3 at best.

Nice place but no silence
Doors slam shut i was woken up several times a night. I could hear the neighbors scolding their children. Couldn't sleep through the night.

Convenient location, not much else.
The hotel has been renovated recently and it is in fairly good shape with a helpful reception. However, a few things that I got without asking in any other "4-star" property irked me. They provide a Nespresso machine in the room, albeit with some generic coffee capsules (4). Once I used the four that were there when I arrived, it took nearly to the end of the week until they were replenished and then never again until I left (10-day stay). Another issue I had was the "quietness" in this property. I was supposedly upgraded to a better room than I had paid for, yet, I could hear a lot of noise by the cleaning group very late at night (past midnight up until 2-3 am) and during the day. It seemed that they were moving around something and when I looked outside once, I saw linen sacks with the fresh linen that were meant to be used when cleaning the rooms. Almost everyday I would find stacks of these in the corridor right outside my door. The location is great, but if you are looking for a good night's sleep, you need to look elsewhere! ☹️

Poor room layout
Our room faced the fire escape so it was like staying in a dungeon. We asked to change rooms and were offered another one but it had 2 single beds instead of a double. We requested if there were any other rooms with a double bed available and were told no even though the hotel looked practically empty. Our room was connected to another through a locked door, you could hear everything through this door so there was no privacy. Generally clean and tidy and room itself was nice if the above isn't taken into consideration. However the first thing a hotel needs to offer is privacy and for this reason i will not stay here again.
