This certainty was not a 4.7 plus resort. When we arrived at the resort we were ignored by every staff personnel that we encountered, keeping in mind we speak fluent Spanish. After 40-45 minutes we were acknowledged and checked in. During this time they introduced us to a gentleman whom told us more in depth about the resort and even offered to take us to a personal breakfast in the morning, wow now that’s service. The more my wife and I talked the next morning about waiting till 0900 for our guide to pick us up we decided to cancel. I called the front desk and was told no one would have offered us this deal. We went to our all inclusive breakfast that was part of the Travelocity deal. We went to the reception center after breakfast to again talk to someone and again was told that no one from the resort would have offered us this deal (I pointed out the people that was dressed in the same uniform of the person who offered us the meal). Bang! It occurred to us that this was going to be sales pitch to join there Exclusive Club. Everyone dressed in the dark blue polo’s treated us like criminals from that point on! Disgusting! We ran into many couples during our trip and they too were offered this free breakfast only to find out that it was a sales pitch and not the resort treating anyone like a VIP Guest. They too were very unhappy with the bait and switch. The food in the inclusive dining areas was mediocre at best, the free drinks were awful, watered down! Terrible trip

Punta Cana is beautiful! Cannot complain about that but when it came to Catalonia…the service at times was not great at swim up bar/pool bar and the main place you ate food. They need more staff and people with great energy because some of them lacked it. They were always out of cups or plates which was a pain. The room was clean but you can tell it was not “deep cleaned” after the last person. Their was a little black mold in our shower and the orange pillows in the room STUNK! It was a horrible smell…we left those outside on the balcony the whole stay. Like i said Punta Cana is BEAUTIFUL but i would not recommend Catalonia.

The pool, beach, and food were great. The room definitely needed some updates, such as more outlets & fixing botched up bathroom work....but overall the room was comfortable. Our family of enjoyed our stay. Not being pressured to join a "presentation" in the hotels effort to make more money would have made our time more enjoyable.
