Bad experience, but lots of potential
Let's start with the BAD. This hotel is in rough shape. The first room we were offered was on the 2nd floor and I could not get the key to open the lock. After trying with their spare key, they offered me a different room on the 3rd floor of the south tower. It ended up being a bad choice. Someone seems to be permanently living in one of the rooms adjacent to the one we had. I did see inside his room when he left his door open and he really seemed to have a big cleanliness and hoarding problem. This would explain our second issue (that we did report the day before we left). There were multiple, different bugs that we found in the hallway and both shared bathrooms located near that person's room. Also the smell in the hallway was horrible when his door was left open. On the GOOD side, we did not see bugs when we used the 4th floor bathrooms nor the other 3rd floor one. We also did not see any bugs in our room, hopefully so! I'm guessing for the moment, it is limited to that person's surroundings. I hope they take care of that issue soon! This experience made me realize I'm getting too old to be comfortable in a hostel (in general). And if they take care of the person/bugs issue, would be a place I would gladly recommend to anyone comfortable going to a hostel (my younger self would've loved this place!) Finally, on the VERY GOOD, the lobby was really clean, nicely decorated, with someone at the door. We felt safe! The shared accomodations looked pretty good too!

Great place to park for overnight stay that is so convenient. The unisex bathroom is quite sexy. You walk in the hallway with this slinky towel then here's this handsome stud came out from the bathroom and greet you hi sexy.

nice place, nice price
Just one thing to ameliorate: a chair in the room could be good to seat because the bed for somene tail is not comfortable to seat... a plastic chair could be just fine.

Spartan but clean room in decent location
Stayed here for a Broadway show. Not far from the Subway station, Central Park, some eateries but little else. Hotel was fine, nothing special. Room was spartan but clean, bunked beds w/ bathroom down the hall (how romantic!).

If you aren't picky you'll have a good time
You get what you pay for, after all it's NYC and it's less than half the price of all the other hotels. The negatives Do not expect a deep sleep! Mattress was past its due date, you feel springs on your back. AC is extremely loud. Blinds almost nonexistent.Elevator needs a fix. Door locks unreliable. The positives Location is great, residential area but very close to subway (20 mins to times square) and beautiful for walking. Shared bathroom was renovated and usually very clean.Lobby was nice to hang out. Staff super friendly and helpful.
