Profile: Old Town Edinburgh

Profile: Old Town Edinburgh

Old Town refers to the oldest part of Scotland's capital city. Its ancient topography, known as "crag and tail," dates back to the ice age. Old castles and centuries-old theaters await your perusal. The Royal Mile features most of the shops, bars, cafés, and bars that wend and wind through small alleys.

National Museum of Scotland, St. Giles Cathedral, and the Scottish Parliament are among the most notable and historic ways to discover the history of this charming country. You can walk everywhere in Old Town, following in the footsteps of kings, invading armies, the condemned, and the celebrated.

    Little bit of Luxury

We stayed in a suite , the room was beautiful .We had great views looking across to princes street and the Christmas market. The bed was very comfy and we both slept well . Breakfast was very crowded , tables too close together . So we opted to take it in the room , food was very tasty ,generous portions . All staff friendly and courteous. Great location ! Lift on Market Street , next to the stairs.

    Lovely hotel but staffing problems.

The room was lovely but service was poor. The mini bar wasnt fully stocked when we got there , consequently they tried to charge for things we hadnt had. They hadnt made up the room by the time we returned on the second day and then it was rushed, missing a few things out. On arrival they had sent an email for entry at 2.00 but couldnt get in till 3. The reception staff werent very focused talking amongst themselves. The restaurant was closed and they told us the cinema was shut but it was in fact open. All in all a lovely hotel but certainly not the 5 star experience you would expect for £ 220 a night plus breakfast.
