Larry’s review.
Was here 7 years ago. This hotel is the perfect location with friendly informative staff. I would certainly recommend it to others.

Lovely stay bar breakfast
Hotel was a lovely old characteristic building, spotlessly clean reception, the room was massive, bed was so comfy, went to the bar underneath the hotel, lovely decor the only downside was the breakfast,we sat down, ordered coffee and got our cereals, another 2 couples arrived and got there coffees before us,twenty minutes it took to get our coffee as we had to remind them,we got our breakfast,my wife ordered poached eggs whilst i ordered a full English with poached eggs, the eggs were freezing, so my wife asked for 2 more eggs, when they came, the took the original egg on toast back and just brought 2 poached eggs,so we asked for toast, again the eggs were freezing, it took another 10 minutes to get the toast,by this time,my wife had given upon breakfast

Very disappointing . Will not return.
Lovely staff on front desk. The first room we were given was right over the kitchen extractor fans, and even at 3pm the room smelt of food and frying. So goodness knows what it would have smelled like at dinner and breakfast service times! |The head of housekeeping happened to be near the room when we arrived & agreed with us that the room wasn't good. So we were moved. This room also overlooked the back of the hotel. The room was ok. But 2 things really let it down. 1) All night there is a noise from what i can only imagine is the major air conditioner system outside. We had turned ours off, so it was definitely outside. We turned the radiator on in our room, which got very hot, but made a lot of noise, so that had to go too. But the worst thing was the bed! it was so old, I had to grip on to my side to stop rolling into the middle. It was saggy and uncomfortable, the pillows not much better. The bedding was bobbly. I have better bedding at home! The shower took ages to get hot, and when the 2nd person went to shower, it was luke warm. The breakfast was poor. Cheap jams in sticky jars. Boiled bacon. No avocado at 10.00 kitchen had run out! The bread used for the toast was slightly stale. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. All the staff at breakfast were pleasant and smiling. Credit to them. I wouldn't stay here again.

Fine, but a bit tired
Hotel room was fine, just felt a bit tired and in need of some TLC Quite a bit of street noise, which probably wouldn’t have heard if the windows fitted properly

Great hotel and excellent service. Only downside is that the rooms are a bit dated.

One night stay
Very friendly, helpful staff (especially reception). Nice clean room with a clean & comfortable bed. Only downside was the noise from the station (our room was on the back) Excellent location. Would use again.

Good 6.0
Outdated room but good service
Unfortunately I was unable to have a double room due to a leak. This meant I was put into a single room which was very small. Hotel rooms seemed outdated. Breakfast menu included a good selection and food arrived quickly.
