Did I request a construction zone?
when we arrived we were given a room that was practically in the lobby, when we opened the door we found two single beds :-( We went back to the front desk and they said they could put them together. While we waited for housekeeping we heard some form of construction tool cutting through the outside wall of our room. We again approached the front desk where we were told 'they would be done by 5pm'. The fact that they would put ANY guest in a room adjacent to a construction zone is beyond comprehension. They did move us to another room and again had to put the beds together. Why they had not put us in this quieter part of the hotel in the first place is again beyond comprehension. The room was adequate, quite small. Glad we were only there for one night.

Great start to our SA tour.
Excellent position close to Water Front. Staff friendly and helpful. The evening meal we tried was not so good, much better available outside. The Waterfront is great place for food, entertainment and shopping. We also had a great view of Table Mountain from our window.

Lovely Hotel - A great place to stay
Great hotel which has some lovely quirky original features. We had a spacious room with a great bathroom and speedy reliable WiFi. It has fabulous views and is situated close to the V&A Waterfront Area with all it’s shops, restaurants and bars and has easy access to the various visitor attractions that Cape Town has to offer. Would definitely visit again.

We booked 2rooms, on our arrival a lady explained to us about the school that is operating on the groung floor on the building thst we were going to be placed. They sent us to another room thst is called family room, we two boys 6and 15. The tooms were so tiny in a way that it looked like a student residence. There was no place to put our suitcases because as you enter the door you facing toilet and shower then the rooms on the sides. You couldnt move around the beds some of our luggage we had to place them in the toilet. If you need to go to shower you had to place your lugage on the bed. So you will be able to close the door. We had a terrible stay. We complained and they told us it was full snd we were only relocated on the last day of our stay to the main hotel. Otherwise we were kept in the hostel.

Small and stunk
Hotel was so small I felt like my room was on a cruise ship. We choose the family room with 4 twin size beds but it was so small there was no room for suitcases or to walk. Rooms and hallways stunk like sewer. I will choose another hotel in the future.

Great room
We were in the "Harbor Suite" which is in the newer part of the hotel (not in the old prison part). It was a beautiful corner room with a great view of the harbor and table mountain. Very nice.

Was good staying, position excellent, but pretty impossibile to understand where is the hotel entrance and to discover the "jail" where to sleep. No many indications about. Need to improve, not heavy, the indication about how to reach the rooms. From bottom to top of building.

Great location, otherwise okay
We chose the hotel for the location and that is the point it fulfills completely, it's mere minutes safely walking to the Waterfront with it's shops and restaurants. The shower was warm, not hot and as there is no door you get the bathroom partly wet. The double bed was definitely on the small side, just about wide enough for 2 people, I would call it a twin bed. I have stayed in better Protea's but as I said, you can't beat the location.
