Extremely dated. Overpriced for its condition/for what it offers.

Great location, friendly staff, old rooms
Loved the location and the grounds! Close to back rock and Whaler’s village. Only takes a couple of minutes to walk to both. We were only there one night so not enough time to participate in their activities like lei making and ukulele lessons, but saw people enjoying them. We did watch part of their hula show in the evening and enjoyed it. And it is really great being right on kaanapali beach. Unfortunately the rooms are a draw back. They are old, damp and a bit musty smelling. Beds old, paint peeling, carpet old. AC did not work well. So a trade off on location vs condition of the rooms.

Perfect Honeymoon
We had a rough start at the hotel, but the staff really made up for it. It is the perfect place for an honeymoon, I suggest you to take view on the ocean, the sunset is breathtaking from that hotel, I think it was the highlight of our trip. This hotel has a lot of typical hawaiien activities, we didn’t stay on the resort and I kind a regretted to not enjoy more all the activities (hula lesson, ukulele lesson...). We will definitely go back. The only down point is that I just wished that they would have earlier goodbye ceremony, we unfortunately missed ours due to early flight.

We booked Kaanapali Beach Hotel for two reason's, one, because we had to leave another hotel we were staying at by 11:00am. Our flight home was late in the evening so we needed a place to store our luggage and valubles while we were on the beach and a place to clean up for the flight home. Reason two, we wanted to check out the hotel for future refference. Let me tell you, we were impressed with the quality of service, friendly staff, loads of entertainment to experience and just a beautiful authentic Hawaiian place to stay. Definitely will come back here for our next holiday!!!! Wish we had booked here first.

Rude reception
Worst welcome ever. No greeting or smile, just straight into a lecture about showing up before check in time and no rooms were available because we were early. Thought check in was 3:00pm so got there at 3:10pm. Were told "your early, check in was not until "3:30 or 4pm". When we got to our room it was not the type of room we had booked and was so musty smelling it gave me a sore throat. We went back to reception to see if we could get another room and were very rudely told NO, everything is now gone (at 3:40pm)! Not a good start. We would have gone to another hotel but the area was fully booked at the time. We did get moved to another room the next day but on the second night the air conditioner stopped working. The maintenance guy showed up without any tools and was unable to fix it. Offered us another room but who wants to pack up suitcases and 11:30pm and move to a third room in 3 days. No compensation or apology offered for any of these inconveniences or rude treatment. The lady who gave the hula lessons and who also did the farewell ceremony was the pleasant part of this stay. Wish all the staff had her friendly and welcoming attitude. The extreme rudeness at reception gives a bad impression of the hotel and is no way to greet guests. The hotel tried to say we got the type of room we had booked and that we were also given an upgrade, neither of which are true. The hotel is in a good location but it is rundown. There are other hotels in the area, and elsewhere.

Great location on beach but rooms need updating
Great location and beach. Received an upgrade to ocean view which was nice but the room was very out dated and smelled damp. Compared to the surrounding properties it was disappointing. Needs some major updates.

Kannapali beach hotel
Me and my family had a fantastic time there. The property is beautiful and the beach is gorgeous! My only complaint would be the tiki grill is way overpriced and the burgers did not taste good.

First time staying at Kaanapali Beach Hotel
My wife and I spent 6 nights at Kaanapali Beach hotel for our vacation. When we first arrived around 10 pm, we were greeted by friendly staff. The check-in was quick and easy. We received an upgrade to our room which faced partially to the ocean. The parking facility was easy to use. Our room had two queen size beds along with all standard supplies. The balcony had two chairs and a small coffee tables where we spent quite some time enjoying ourselves and the views. The room was a little bit dated. I saw renovations were being done on a section of the hotel. I hope to see a new fresh look of the rooms next time when I visit Maui again. The hotel is located a few steps from Kaanapali Beach and the Whalers Village. Free wifi at the hotel and on the beach as well. Many restaurants around the hotel. Very convenient location.

No Aloha here!
The service began to decline as the Covid-19 pandemic became worse. We were treated as though we didn’t belong there, even though we had arrived prior to any stay at home order or social distancing guidelines had been issued. The staff did nothing to make the remainder of our stay, in the least bit, pleasant. They acted like it was an inconvenience to them to treat us with hospitality.

Great value and location
Hotel is a bit dated, but the location and price can’t be beat! If you’re outside of the hotel room most of your stay and mostly just need a place to sleep this hotel is great! 10 minute walk to whalers village where they have an ABC market and lots of food options (cheaper than the hotel). Can see whales right from the beach. Did the three mile walk and the end where this hotel is, in my opinion, has the better beach and is right by black rock which is great for snorkeling. Mattress looked new but was a bit soft for my liking. Housekeeping staff was very nice and helpful. Very thankful for the A/C! I’d stay here again.
