Upon arrival it was definitely not what we expected, didn’t look much like the pictures at all. No big deal until.. First night, air conditioning was broken. Maintenance guy worked 2 hours on ac and left saying it was fixed, it was NOT. Keep in mind it’s 100 degrees this time of year. Asked to switch to a new room, it was not until the next day we were granted a new room, settled in the new room, that night the power was out! Food is the WORST out of any where I’ve ever been, and it’s been 10 days and me and my mother are STILL food poisoned!! No bottled water..etc I could really go on. This absolutely ruined out our first trip to Mexico, this place is a nightmare. This really isn’t the resorts problem, but on the third night we had a very serious family cardiac emergency and had to fly back home (on top of our miserable stay at Catalonia) and ended up losing our money on the last 2 nights we had booked to stay and they refused to refund. Which really for all the inconvinece our first two nights, they honestly should’ve refunded atleast the 2 nights we didn’t even get to stay. I’ve been to many many resorts around the world, STAY AWAY from this one. Don’t waste your time.

Great For A Couple On A Budget
This is a great choice if you are a couple on a honeymoon or looking for a romantic getaway. The beach is gorgeous and the resort is very peaceful with a great nature vibe. The resort is on the smaller side and it is not very crowded. The service at the restaurants was excellent. The food was good as well. Please note you will see animals at the resort, such as iguanas and coati (little fox like animals). These animals will not harm or bother you but some people will not like see them while other nature lovers will. This resort is the most affordable in the Tulum area in my opinion so if you are on a budget this is your best option. The Hilton, Barcelo, Secrets, and other resorts will be much much larger than this resort but they will also be more expensive and impossible to walk through. The fact that this resort was smaller made it easier to move through and also made it feel more cozy and charming. I also liked that it was not too crowded. The beach was so beautiful and I liked that it was not crowded like a Cancun beach. It was much calmer as well as I did not see any jet skis, parasailing or anything like that and I never had an issue finding a chair as I did in Cancun. The unlimited juice bar by the beach was an added bonus as well.

Worth Every Penny! Stay Here!
Wow! What a wonderful place to relax and rejuvenate! The staff members were very friendly and made my stay super comfortable! I’m picky about food and I must say, the food here was GREAT! Make sure to set your dinner reservations for the entire stay on your first night! The spa was absolute heaven, make sure to get a massage! The gym is really nice and has upgraded equipment and tvs. We booked a visit to Chichén Itzá, it was incredible. Don’t book this trip on your last day as it takes about 12 hours total but the trip is beyond words. One thing that makes this place special is they have events every night so guests have entertainment. Our first night there was a neon party at the pool! Make sure you get in and make some friends! They don’t offer airport shuttle service so make plans in advance to avoid costly taxis! Pick up your preferred alcohol at the airport before arriving!

Catalonia Royal Tulum is unmatched in attention to details, natural beauty, and gorgeous facilities. The accommodations are wonderful and there are constant activities on the beach and pool area that you can choose to participate in, or you can lounge on the beach or poolside, while servers bring you drinks. The spa is gorgeous, and I recommend the Mayan Purification massage. The food is delicious as well. The resort is set in the jungle , and there are coati and iguanas roaming around, which was so much fun. The walkway is elevated in places and takes you right through the trees. The thing that really sets it apart are the staff. They are all very friendly and eager to go the extra mile to make everything perfect for you. We left feeling like we were leaving behind old friends. If you are booking an all inclusive resort, look no further.
