Overall = acceptable
The check staff person Diana was excellent and very helpful with room selection and parking machine issues. The room was very old and the amenities in the room such as ancient bed spread and furnishings was disappointing. The king bed was old and sagging in the middle (Room #203) and uncomfortable. The bathroom was clean as was the room was well maintained as far as cleanliness. The upstairs Pub was clean and the food was very tasty.

Quite, clean, cozy, charming
This place is exactly what I was looking for - quiet, clean, cozy and just far enough away from the downtown core to be calm but close enough to easily get to meetings downtown in the morning in under 10 minutes! The staff were amazing and the pub serves great food! A hidden gem for sure.

Stay away
Room 105. Smelt funky. Carpet was straight outta the 70s. Bathroom and shower weren’t completely clean (body hair on/around the toilet and hair in the shower). The building next to our room was a night club so from 10pm-3am our room was filled with bass. Then when everyone pours out they were 6 feet away from our window and drunk (thus loud). Wouldn’t stay again and wouldn’t suggest on staying!!..

8/10 Very good

We had a late flight so arrived at the hotel after 11pm, but had inquired earlier so asked the bar staff to find the manager, who quickly came down to check us in. Very friendly, no hassles. Same with reception staff next morning; allowed us to store our luggage at reception until we left for the airport late in the day. The hotel is a converted old brick building, probably a stately mansion back in the day. The hallways are narrow; I couldn’t see any elevator to the 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor. The room was tiny - wasn’t even room to set down or open a large suitcase except on the floor. However, it was clean and the price was right. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean except for some mould on the wet side of the shower curtain. The vanity was tiny, with no shelf or other space to set down a toiletry bag. No problems with the hot water supply. So for a relatively cheap room, especially in Toronto, this wasn’t a bad choice. Easy walking distance to cafes and to the ROM. Other rooms in the same building might be larger and a bit more comfortable.
