I confirmed my check in on Monday, October 24. No check in code or information about early check, or luggage storage information about this location sent ahead of time for me to plan my trip better.
We arrived early at 1pm and was on the phone with the hotel operator for 45 minutes trying to book an early check in and where to store our luggages. We couldn’t get an early check in. The luggage storage information, Stasher, was not easy to navigate. We ended up going to a restaurant nearby and waited until 4.
Note that only when I talked to the operator that she would send information about the building and suite codes, and Only on my last day that an reminder email would mention about early check in and luggage storage options.
While I appreciate Sonders adoption of paperless check-in. Detail of this hotel’s specific location need to be fully disclosed and informed. We felt stranded and struggled with this new system. The operator did her best to help us navigate the situation without success and promised a compensation of $100. It would have been less stressful for us for a short weekend trip had we were better informed.
Hope you will improve processes for future guests.

What we did not like was the pass code, too many digits. Just to get my floor, we had to press too many digits in the elevator. Please reduce to 4 digits would be excellent.

When you book, pay attention to the email you will get regarding checkin. I almost did not, so it would have been awkward. There is no front desk but they give you a code that opens the front door, activates the elevator and opens your room. There was no daily room service, but I suspect for longer stays there must be some arrangement. We were there 5 night. No ice machine or soda machine but there is a Dep really close. I would definitely stay there again.

Positives: Great location, ease of check in and check out/ code lock system, lovely suites and very clean and safe, excellent value
Negatives: a drinking glass or two in the room would have been nice, a small recycling bin as well

We should have known that we were in for a difficult night's sleep when we saw the earplugs and white-noise machine by the bed. At least once things quieted down at 2 AM, you could get some rest.
Unfortunately, on our second night the fire alarm started sounding every 45 seconds. Although we called for assistance multiple times and were assured that "someone will come", this is not the case and we weren't able to sleep in the room.
I don't plan on staying at any Sonder property in the future. It's fine if you have no issues and just need a place to stay, but if there's a problem, you're on your own.

Convenient for walking in downtown Montreal but a bit challenging to get to outskirts. Alot of construction happening in the area and many one way streets. Spacious room but bed was quite uncomfortable. For price and location, it was great. Wished there was coffee/tea/water in the room.

Sonder Saint Paul
Montreal made my stay Montreal comfortable. This place is very clean and safe. And also it's a very quiet room even though there is a restaurant on the 1st floor.
They are definitely options for my next travel!
[Good tips for next travers]
- There are lovely shops around this hotel.
- The room is clean.
- No frustration about check-in and out. (Because there is No front desk. Instead, use their app)
[Things are careful]
- Fewer grocery stores around it. (There are many lovely restaurants and cafes!)
- No TV antenna. The room has a nice TV but it's available only as a monitor. You are not able to watch local tv programs.
- No toothbrushes.
- No fridge.
- Had to install and took action several times on their app despite I reserved on Expedia. This app was helpful but I wanted to complete only Expedia my whole reservation flow if I could.
