The Arden Hotel, Stratford-upon-Avon
Great staff
The staff were really friendly and they added so extra touches for us during our stay which made the time there most memorable. I did have to mention a few things to the manager about the cleaners, (leaving our room open when they turned down for the evening and dirty cups left after previous occupiers used them for tea/coffee,) and I am confident they will take this further and address these. However aside from these we would come back to stay at the Arden

Superb location but.....
Best location in Stratford-upon-Avon for the RSC. Excellent staff on Reception and lots of ‘nice touches’. However for the cost (£250 per night - and we stayed for two nights) it was a little disappointing to be woken by the cleaning staff on the first morning (their linen cupboard was outside our room) and to be woken by inconsiderate other guests the following night as they returned from their late night out (I know this is something the hotel have little control over but it did affect our stay). Breakfast on the first morning was excellent and staff were attentive - not so on the second morning where staff seemed ‘rushed’ and a request for an additional cup of coffee seemed to put them out and when it didn’t materialise after ten minutes we decided not to bother waiting. It was a nice hotel overall but we would be unlikely to stay again - for the tariff we would have expected a service that was consistently excellent not sporadically.

My favourite hotel in Stratford, with reservations
The best place to stay for a trip to the theatre, it’s only yards away! We stayed for 2 nights, Christopher Ecclestone in the Scottish play Saturday matinee, we had Friday and Saturday in Stratford. We have stayed here 5 or 6 times now. It used to be possible to get reduced rates through laterooms, but it is full-priced only now as far as I know. Bit expensive, but we have had some good memories of previous stays, and decided to bite the bullet. Plus points: location, quality breakfast, quiet at night, friendly service, secure car park (parking free), clean rooms and wide and comfy beds. Minus points: expensive, corridors to rooms very warm (temp was low 20’s at best when we stayed, but the corridors were 30+), TV required a fair effort to get it to work, breakfast both mornings prefaced by “there will be a bit of a wait, we’re very busy”, orange juice: bit churlish maybe, but served in around 3/4 pint quantity a bit mad, took some guzzling to despatch it. Car park exit needs a mirror, it’s impossible to see traffic coming down until your bonnet is 4-5 feet into the road. Have stayed elsewhere previously, eg The Shakespeare, not found as good a place to stay, you just need to justify the price difference, to commit to The Arden.
