Great Location, Okay Stay
Check-in was smooth, we arrived early and decided to go for lunch and were notified by email when our room was ready. We chose the smaller room, and it was very small, though the bed was extremely comfortable. The shower pressure was weak and never warmed up, and the bathroom overall felt dated and not entirely clean. Unfortunately, a false fire alarm went off on our first night and guests were extremely upset. The staff was not adequately trained to manage this type of situation. That’s when I noticed that other rooms had robes and slippers- ours didn’t! Location was unbeatable. Right at Sloane Square Station, tons of restaurants to eat at and places to walk to. That’s what we paid for with this hotel $$$.

Stayed in a small double room which was fine for a single person I would suggest the full double for two persons. Good short walk to the underground. One stop away from Victoria Station so coming from Gatwick Airport train then via the underground was very convenient.

Disappointed in Lack of Meaningful Compensation
Although the hotel is actually a lovely boutique hotel in a great part of London, the room #408 that I was assigned (facing the Church) kept having technical issues with the air conditioning. Upon advising the front desk of the matter, they did look into it & discovered they could not get a technician in for a few days so they offered to move my son & I to another room. They moved us to the exact same room, but the floor below us (Room #309). Both my father and step-mother & my sister and brother-in-law were also staying at this hotel at the same time as us. Notably, both of their rooms were bigger & nicer than ours despite basically the same nightly charge. I was disappointed that we did not get an upgrade. Sadly, the new room (which had less natural lighting) also had air conditioning issues & no upgrade or compensation was offered at this point until our very last night. Upon checking out, AGAIN no compensation was offered which disappointed me greatly. Upon raising it with the hotel representative helping me out at the front desk, she offered to cover the mini bar charges (a whopping GBP18.00) & gave my son a hotel teddy bear worth GBP17.00. But, the fact that I wasn't even upgraded to a larger room or compensated in any meaningful way was very disappointing. Had we been upgraded to a bit of a larger or better room, at least that would have been proper customer service. Rather, it felt like we were downgraded.

Used to love it but....
hotel is nice although they struggle to keep up with housekeeping. Our room was cleaned once our entire three day stays when we enquired about having it cleaned new towels did appear but the tea cups remained dirty, the amenities were not replaced and the mini bar was not restocked. We were charged wrongly for an additional room which hotel.com could see was cancelled and rebooked by us as a prepaid room. Even though we addressed this immediately upon checkin when we were made aware of the problem, the hotel insisted on charging us. At the time I checked in there was some other guest desperate to get an additional room and I kept pointing out that we were wrongly being held two rooms when we needed one. The manager ignored me and apparently the room sat empty for which we have no paid for. I was assured the reservation manager would call me but she never did. I have always loved this hotel but now will not being staying there as I am so out off by the way we were treated and the lack of understanding by the hotel staff. They seemed unable to comprehend that no one in their right mind would book a room, cancel it immediately and book the prepaid rate for a better room at a cheaper rate. So sad that what used to be a sweet local hotel has now fallen into the category of inflexible and impersonal. The worst part is they didn't care about their other guest either who gladly would have taken the room. Everyone at the counter was dumbfounded ;( And to think they care so litt

Could be better
Great location for our visit to the Saatchi gallery. We booked a twin room which was roomy and comfortable, but just a little plain for a 4 star hotel. Coffee machine didn't work, so they replaced this quite quickly, just the inconvenience of having to get it done. The bathroom was a bit tatty around the edges and toiletries were in pump dispensers bolted to the wall which always looks a bit cheap, one of those wasn't working. The corridor could have done with a good hoover.
