Within easy reach of Luxembourg Gardens

Saint-Germain-des-Pres - Luxembourg sits on Paris’s storied Left Bank, where intellectuals such as Jean-Paul Sartre held court in smoky cafes on rue Bonaparte and Ernest Hemingway knocked back absinthe in dim bars. Today the area’s a favorite with students at the nearby Sorbonne, and a bohemian vibe is still in evidence.
There’s plenty of sightseeing to be done, too, and you can stroll from the quaint 3rd-century St. Germain des Prés abbey, which is Paris’s oldest church, down to the expansive Jardin de Luxembourg, arguably the city’s most popular park. Modelled on the Boboli Gardens in Florence, the gardens offer tennis, concerts, and activities for kids.
