Hotel Palacavicchi, Rome

I have a love hate relationship with this hotel... On the negative side, there was NOTHING to do nearby. The WiFi only worked in the lobby... and barely worked there. The beds were just ok and the AC was set at a permanent 24°. Not our taste. On the positive side, it is located very close to the airport, with a transfer from the hotel at only €2.50 per person. We had an early transfer (which is why we booked this place) and staff got us there in time at 3:45am. The hotel staff was extremely friendly! They went so far as to pack us a breakfast for our flight as we would be gone by the time food was served at the hotel. To sum up, if you have an early flight, this hotel is 100% worth it! But don’t check in early as you’ll be bored for the whole day.

The hotel was clean and comfortable but one of the main reasons that we booked it was because of the airport shuttle bus which was broken when we stayed. This meant we had to walk along the motorway to reach the airport as the hotel didn’t offer to help cover taxi costs. Taxis cost a set rate of €20 for a 2 minute drive to/from the airport which is an absolutely ridiculous rip off.

The hotel lobby was dirty and the carpets were stain ridden as were the sofas in our room. The towels were old, torn and threadbare and the electric sockets in the bathroom literally came away from the wall. Cracks in the toilet seat made it completely useless and the one day out of three where we got a cleaner all she did was spray the dirty curtains with air freshener. The staff and service was terrible- we were ignored and left asking for our bill at least 3/4 times and they closed their dessert menu at 9:30!!? The only thing that I can say was any good was the shuttle service as they did come within ten minutes and dropped us in Ciampino but other than this I was completely put off of Rome in general

The Staff Was Considerate, Thoughtful and Kind. It was a comfortable stay. Anything and Everything we asked for the staff took care of with absolute professionalism. My stay was just overnight, but it was very pleasant. Only Drawback was that the Wi-Fi did not work..... but in fairness we did not address the issue as we only had hours before we had to go to the airport.
