Should have been perfect.
Unfortunately i didnt get the room i booked as it seemed to be ready for single person. No double two singles pushed together that separated constantly. Toiletries for one. Towels for one spare fortunately in wardrobe. Beautiful hotel setting. Restaurant very expensive cheaper restaurant fully booked so ste in neatby pub.

One bad encounter won’t deter me returning.
Return to Oulton Hall for first time since the old De Vere Group days. Very much as I remember it. Rooms are bright and fresh after refurbishment. Very comfortable accommodation. Relaxing few hours in Spa although staff appeared disinterested. Locking mechanism on gents lockers seemed to be faulty in several lockers. In terms of dinner we went from the sublime to the ridiculous. Night 1 - food was excellent and Restaurant Manager (Chris?) running a smooth operation. He made a point of speaking to all dining groups and we were made welcome. Night 2 - young man in charge of restaurant and completely out of his depth. He was extremely rude to his colleagues who, despite of his presence, provided excellent food. First presentation of bill was for another party. Second presentation was in my name but very inaccurate. Eventually he told me that he would mark our meal off as complimentary. This was clearly in an effort to make the problem go away as opposed to a gesture of goodwill. At checkout the following morning another wildly inaccurate version of my restaurant bill had been added to my final account. Reception staff were very polite and concerned (but perhaps not surprised) about my experience the previous evening. Despite this, Oulton Hall is well worth a visit and I will certainly be returning.

Exceptional 10.0
Friendly staff at Oulton Hall
Their breakfast is excellent and the food is very good. They kept forgetting two napkins for room service. The gym was very good but a class was awful. Massage was great but book before you go. I will go back.

Fair 4.0
disappointing-
A couple of small issues raised - we had had breakfast and checked out by 9am on a Sunday morning after not a good nights stay due to the guttering outside the room leaking and hitting the roof below - which was like a waterfall all night, 2 weddings on and been on the floor with a lot of the guests so very disturbed night. Perhaps allocate leisure guest together so they at least have a good nights sleep. So tired just wanted to get home, they said they would contact me by email, a week later still waiting, so disappointing given we met at the Hotel 26 years ago and was looking forward to returning. It certainly was not the weekend away we were hoping.
