Change of pace for a business trip.
Was in NYC for business. Decided to stay in SoHo this time. It meant taking the subway to the financial district and the hotel didn't have the amenities of a luxury chain, but it was great value. I enjoyed being in a neighbourhood where real people lived. Would do this again. Staff was great. Lots of good places to eat within walking distance. Lots of bad places too; worth checking reviews.

Very nice stay
All round this was a very good hotel, clean, friendly service, comfortable and in excellent condition. Essex subway station nearby as well as several restaurants, deli and excellent ice cream place. Appreciated the queen size beds, since there were four of us. Breakfast was okay- hardboiled eggs, yogurt, cereal and milk, packaged oatmeal. They should definitely do away with the orange drink and replace it with real juice!

They were so nice to bend the rule for me a little bit even that I was 19 and it was required to be 21 to check in, but they helped me not be on the streets for the 2 nights that I was there in New York City, by bending that rule, very respectful people too.

I was really impressed with this old hotel-turned-hostel. Unfortunately some of the lower cleaning staff were quite rude but those running operations throughout the hotel were great. Great location if you like Chinatown/Little Italy. Right next to the Tenament Museum and coincidentally attracted quite an international clientele; much of the staff is bilingual. Great value for the price for New York City. En suite bathrooms, closet space and accessible patio. Would stay again.
