Good 6.0
Location location location
Perfect location, easy walk to everywhere, including the Australian consulate. Bathroom was small, and made very awkward by an over-size sink and lack of toilet seat cover. The a/c came on & off all night, and was blowing directly at one of the beds, as it was at knee level, which was quite tedious. Shower was great though. Check-in was simple, and the owner very accomodating for a late checkout request.

Good 6.0
Basic, clean, and bleak
My room in the basement of a once-stately home, was a small rectangle with a window overlooking a parking lot, so no view. The bedding was clean and ample, the twin bed itself only moderately comfortable. It WAS non-smoking, full marks for that! A quiet cooling fan was beneficial, but other furnishings were indifferent to poor, the metal folding chair being one regrettable example. Pillows squishy. Daily service was very good. The room was made up neatly without any of my few posessions disturbed. Fresh towels daily most welcome. A small fridge on the floor and a free-standing wardrobe completed the furnishings along with a very small desk and a bedside lamp table. A coffeemaker and coffee, tea and condiments were most welcome. Ample hot water was available though a rackety, noisy fan accompanied the light in the cramped bathroom. In all the accommodation was very basic, clean and well-serviced, if a little bleak, with dubious electrical wiring. Priced a bit under $90 a day, located in a section of Toronto reputed to be 'gay', the "mansion" seems to be run (at least on weekends) by remote control. I only rarely saw any desk staff; registration, handling of keys and instructions were handled on line and through written instructions in a tin mailbox secured by a combination padlock. The room and building seemed secure enough - but I'd not care to return to the facility in future.

The only inconvenience was hearing the people above me, but that is expected in an old house.

Fair 4.0
The room was small, drab, in the basement and on par with a University Residence Room, but twice the price.
