The hotel's location is excellent, close to the major attractions. The breakfast was good. The room was clean. But the service was terrible. We spent 5 nights in this hotel.
When we arrived, we asked how to get to the Dolmabache Palace. The receptionist told us that we needed to take taxi, and then he offered me a tour to the palace. I asked him whether the tram could take us there. The reply was I needed to walk 30 minutes after getting off the tram. Actually it only took less than 10-minute walk to the palace. He just tried to sell us the tour.
We requested shuttle transfer to the airport. They asked us to pay 45 euro in cash, not by credit card, the night before we left. We didn't have euro. So we paid them US$. We were told that the driver would come to pick us up at 4am the following morning. However, when we showed up at the lobby for pick up at 4am, another receptionist told us that he's not aware of our shuttle transfer, and there's no car scheduled to come. Our flight was 7:35am. After some hot discussion, the receptionist refunded us 800 Lira, and called a taxi for us. We were delayed by more than 30 minutes to get to the taxi. This was stressful, and was totally unexpected since the hotel advertises the shuttle transfer between the hotel and the airport.
There was no manager's daily reception even though the hotel's website specifies this.
