A fine hotel for visiting Barcelona
The hotel itself was quite nice. The service was impeccable, and the facilities were in good condition. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, but the Friday night dinner and a show in the restaurant were great.
I'd like to point out Marta, that provided us with great service and was very patient.
However, our room had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, and although the staff tried their best, including with a special machine that was turned on while we were away, the smell persisted.
Moreover, the room had 2 doors and one of those didn't lock. Even though we asked for it to be repaired, it was not. The room had a very large bathroom, but there were no lights above the bath section, and lots of water kept leaking out of the tub.
I might be nitpicking now, but the TV only had 2 English-speaking channels, and I couldn't connect a streamer to the TV because of the procedure of logging in to the Wifi.
The rooftop bar and terrace are really nice, but using the pool up there isn't very practical. It's tiny with very little pool seating, and it's right on top of the bar, which means if you're trying to relax in the sun, there's lots of traffic around you.
Finally, the neighborhood itself, Raval. I didn't know it before getting there, but it's a shady neighborhood. No brand stores or chain restaurants, but everything you need is a short walk away.
My review might sound overly negative, but we had a great time in Barcelona, and the hotel was a great 'base of operations'.
