For family with younger kids, but bad location
6 day stay. Stayed with 3 college age kids. Ikebukuro is convenient but the hotel is not in the best area. On the other side of a redlight district although you can skirt and it to get to the hotel (but it's the most direct route to walk through). So there are many love hotels / adult clubs on the way from the station (about 8 min walk) and Mimaru is next to one. I doubt you will be bothered by the various club promoters if you are walking with your kids but not a great intro to Japan. The hotel propery is new, but cleaning service is minimal. The beds/futon are not very comfortable. The separate kitchen, dining area can be useful if you have small kids with limited endurance and spending a lot of time in the room, but if you are vacation with bigger kids, it's not helpful. They only provide 2 keys no matter how many in the room so if more than 1 in the group want to go out independently, you must ask the desk to let you in. Super inconvenient with 3 bigger kids that want to do some of their own activities in Japan.
