a nice surprise
A three-star hotel very near to Lyon Perrache rail station and to the cultural and gastronomic amenities of Lyon centre. It seems to have been recently renovated: the lobby was smart and clean, my single room was basic but clean and comfortable, the AC was much appreciated in the recent heatwave. Reception friendly. I did not have the breakfast. All in all, a nice surprise.

Great location and clean hotel
The check in was quick and the chap at the front desk was friendly and helpful. He informed us about the parking as it is not easy being in quite central Lyon. There is a square close by the hotel with many bars and restaurants.Otherwise it is a good 15 mins walk to the old town with plenty of shops and eating places.

I was a solo traveler in Lyon for the first time. Hotel des Remparts was perfect for me. It was very close to the train station and the metro. Although most of the historical sites, museums, and shopping were a bit of distance, this was a great home base: centrally located in a lively neighborhood. The clean room and comfortable bed made it great to come home at night. Plenty of dining and entertainment options nearby, too. Even so, I didn't hear much noise in my room facing the courtyard. And the view from my sixth story room was a charming scene over the roofs and chimneys of the neighboring buildings.
