6/10 Good

Hotel was listed as dog friendly. My mistake but wasn’t expecting £15 per night (I’ve stayed elsewhere for less). My dog wasn’t allowed to stay in the room on his own apparently. That made breakfast interesting. Car parking was listed as available but my mistake again I wasn’t expecting £15 per night (I subsequently realised, after I had paid, there was plenty of free street parking but also parking on the promenade was only £11.60 for 24 hrs) but instead everyone squeezed their cars into ridiculously small car parking spaces under the hotel with lots of concrete posts to dodge and other cars wedged in against each other. Both probably my mistake as this was a last minute trip but nevertheless…. It must earn a small fortune for the hotel chain. The two items were £60 for my 2 nights. When I received the hotel.com ‘you have checked in’ email and giving me an option of views I ticked their “unexpected fees”. Within an hour I had the hotel calling me - they offered a refund of £15 on car parking but asked me to change my rating. I didn’t like this! I don’t know if they posted a refund. So - the small stuff - fridge didn’t work in the room, the shower pressure was average at best, room had no view (see the photo) and the tomatoes in the English breakfast looked like they were scared of the grill ! Good stuff - the breakfast staff were nice and food came quickly, maybe too quickly for the tomatoes!! Hotel is ok. Thank god the sun was out!!

8/10 Very good

Wouldn’t stay again if I was driving.
The hotel is really nice. Very clean and modern. Overall is was good value for money. Check in was slow because the room wasn’t ready at 3.15pm. The hotel staff seemed more interested in getting the £15 for parking from its customers than anything else, which I thought was expense given that you’re not guaranteed a parking spot in the very small parking area. You can park in the Ibis next door but that only holds around 25 cars.

Nice hotel, poor service
*Fridge not chilling, flashing light when door opened - when I called reception I was told 'Oh, there is nothing I can do about that and maintenance have gone home now' (no apology given) *Bedroom cold and no warm air coming from air con (I didn't call reception due to knowing maintenance were not available) *Missing top to built-in shampoo in shower (see pic below) so couldn't be used *Housekeeping knocking but then immediately entering our room, as my wife came out the shower. My wife was mortified. Housekeeping had not been made aware that we had pre-booked (and paid for) a late check out *Key card not working in lift on Saturday, had to queue at reception for 15mins. No apology given. 2nd card didn't work either, no apology given again. Receptionist just said 'the keycards have been playing up all day' *Labelling/signage poor at breakfast, ie condiments and juice on bar but no signage to tell anyone, milk urns not labelled *On the positive side, our bed was comfortable, the breakfast quality excellent and the room was very clean (as was the whole hotel)

Room with a view but little else.
Room was very nice and modern with a great view of the sea. Bed was comfortable but was 2 singles stuck together and not a king size. Was a bit upset that the hotel nether got back to my email saying it was our wedding night and could they do something to mark the occasion in our room, but no answer or any surprises. Was also shocked that parking was £15 a night, even though it was November and there is plenty about if you look around. Last little moan was the quality of breakfast, stay away from the mushrooms that are horrible. Better save your cash and go out to the local cafe or Wetherspoons for breakfast.
