The Municipal is a truly beautiful hotel, perfectly located for exploring Liverpool and full of history and character. I especially loved the old postcards displayed in the frames, which made the building’s past feel alive and added such a personal touch. Bedrooms and front of house staff were very good. The yellow submarine cocktail is outstanding. The spa is a lot more average. It took almost 40 mins for drinks to get delivered to the pool. A pool with steam room/sauna/salt room being described as a thermal suite is a bit generous! The relaxation room is also noisy.

Another lovely stay. The room is always immaculate and the staff are very friendly and helpful. This time we had a shower that didn't cool down, an iron that leaked and a safe that wouldn't open. Small things, but pretty basic stuff I hope they keep on top off for general maintenance. We will book again though when back home visiting family and friends. Always look forward to it.

Reception checking in was thorough and personally escorted to the room. Nice touch, but let the baggage team do that as it slowed check-in down horrendously for the next person. The spa treatment was great. But not being able to use the pool or gym while waiting was a surprise given we were both guests of the hotel and the spa facility. The restaurant was pleasant and airy, but the food was not that great. They need to learn what a Laksa is, and the duck dish was pretty average. Checkout was slow (ref earlier comment), but very polite and a nice way to leave the hotel.
