A great option!
Tiny rooms are common in manhatten. And these small cabins for rooms were quite comfortable. Resturant and bar on site are a plus. Quality of food, drinks and service were excellent. Shared bathrooms were shockingly clean!

Incompetent staff and uncomfortable hotel
My boyfriend and I stayed for 3 nights, we rented the captain's room. Nowhere online did it mention that there was an unbelievably loud club directly under many of the rooms, nor were we warned when we checked in. The first night, the music was so loud we literally did not sleep at all. It was so loud, we could sing to the words of each song and we could even hear people's yelling conversations below us. The next morning we asked for a new room, the front desk person apologized and said there would be a new room ready for us when we got in. It was raining out so we asked if it would be ok if we used the umbrella from our first room during the day, he said that was no problem, that he would note that on our file. We got back in at the end of the day, and brought all of our suitcases back up to our new room, to discover we were literally put in the room next door- which was also right above the club. We called down and were moved to another room, this time with a twin bed, which doesn't really work for two people. We were told that was the only room available and were given earplugs. When you pay almost $300 a night for a room, I don't expect to require earplugs to sleep. I asked several times to speak to the manager who was never in. The front desk person finally offered a reimbursement for at least the first night. I return home, and surprise no reimbursement and a charge for the umbrella we left in the room and I still get get ahold of a manager. Will never stay here again.

It was a pretty nice stay. I enjoyed the warm, quiet bedroom and convenient utilities. Also,I like the inside decorations of the lobby and corridor.

An Original Experience
Often a place labeled with the word "character" is code for "cool old stuff... but dirty and tired". This is NOT the case with The Jane. It truly does have character, a great experience for those interested in quirky. Clean and renovated about 10 years ago. From the Titanic fountain in the lobby, to the funky Moroccan decor, to the train/ship type berths, it's really an experience. Great roof-top bar and friendly staff. Single rooms are tiny as promised. Be aware that the rooms are not air-conditioned as advertised on the site I booked. Although there was a fan, it was uncomfortable at times. Also, the rooms are not all Hudson River view as advertised on the site I booked... my view was another building. Quiet and easy to sleep. Strong Wi-fi. Spotless washrooms and showers, clean room, linens, and even a bath robe! Located mid-town right on the Hudson... 10 minute walk to the subway. 2 blocks from the High Line garden walk. 1 block from well-stocked convenience store.

Little Icon in great locale
Excellent location for the Whitney Museum, Hi-line and west side Hudson River walks, plus west all the Village offerings. The Jane's bars and ballroom are storybook. Restaurant not strong point. Staff was friendly and step-forward. Bathrooms kept clean night and day. Standard cabin was fine. Excellent wifi. Mattresses are a bit stiff.
