Great location, small & old, but confit and clean
The Hotel is a historic monument, therefore they're not allowed to renovate much. Staff was friendly, hotel is old, but decently clean. Yes the bathrooms are shared, but it does the job.

Dingy Outside But Bright & Comfortable Inside
From the outside, I started questioning myself why did I choose this hotel. However upon entering everything was fine. Despite the dingy exterior the inside was bright and comfortable. The room was exactly as described, comfortable but not luxurious. For the most part the people working at the front desk were extremely knowledgeable and spoke English well. The hotel is perfectly located with most tourist destinations within a 10 -15 minute walk. Only true complaint, is there are stairs everywhere. You need to walk up a steep set of stairs just to get to the reception. Once inside, the rooms are connected via several hallways that require you to go up and down a handful of stairs. The room me and my family stayed in required us to cross an outdoor patio area and once again required us to up and down several sets of stairs. Fortunately, it didn't rain on us otherwise having to cross this outdoor patio could have proven a disaster. If you're driving, be aware there is no parking associated with hotel but there are several lots located anywhere from a couple of minutes to 10 minutes away.

Excellent location, but noisy
Very nice hotel, excellent location, but not soundproof. The construction site across the street started work at sunrise (between 5:00 and 6:00 am), also the curtains were white and the sunshine shone through in the morning. Also the wifi sometimes did not extend all the way to our room ... and when it did work it was slow. So, the room was clean and nicely decorated, but I didn't sleep well. The plumbing worked very well - hot water, good flow etc.

No frills, comfortable hotel
The hotel is in a great area downtown and feels safe and comfortable. There are a lot of nearby restaurants and it was close to our convention centre. The superior room was spacious and clean. The price was not expensive for the downtown area and the staff were friendly. They allowed us to stow our luggage on check-out day so that we could explore the city until we were ready to leave. The breakfast buffet is only two dollars per person (Standard fruit, yogurt, bread/pastries, coffee/juice, and cereal. I liked the Montreal-style bagels but would recommend adding peanut butter or oatmeal to the buffet options). The only downside is there is no elevator (They cannot build one) so you have to take the stairs (one flight to Reception plus two flights to our room). There is also no Wi-Fi in the individual rooms, but I brought a book and it was comfortable. The air conditioning was reliable, the room was private, and the toiletries were nice.
