Let me preface this in Dec 2017 we stayed at the Bahia Chac Chi. There is no comparison. We love Isla Mujeres and I can today confirm primarily because of the Bahia Chac Chi. In 2017 we walked along the north beach and noticed this beautiful hotel; Playa la Media Luda. I was anxious to return to the island to re-experience our perfect vacation and I waited months in the fall of 2018 for an ocean view room to become available in my time period. One did; one room with no possibilities of an upgrade. I committed and reserved. We arrived at the hotel mid-January 2019 at 2pm and had to wait over an hour before the room was ready. We stored our suit cases and coming from a cold -22C climate were very and extremely uncomfortable. We were eventually lead to the 2nd floor room, #7. This was the most basic of rooms. 2nd floor and most further back from the ocean and ocean view. This room was small and had 2 double beds, No real room for anything else. We had 4 balconies to our left and 2 to our right and had to look through everything to see the ocean view. Dark and dreary was the realism. We asked for a room upgrade and were told that if we were accepting of moving rooms every day or two that this was our only option. Nope, not here. Unrealistic. We read on the reviews a number of negatives. The breakfasts are minimal. Sure cereal, toast, fruit, muesil and yogurt but this is a basic continental breakfast. The rooms were full of sand and you could not get away from it but the

We stayed for three nights. Check in was easy and fast. $200 USD deposit was put on my credit card. You are provided with a lock for the safe and cards for beach towels. Take these when you check out or they will not release the deposit. They should really tell people this as most are probably used to leaving things in the room on check out. The first night was awful as construction went to 10:30pm - no notice was given. It was so loud we couldn't sleep, and after asking when it would end, no follow up was provided. The next day

    Excellent location

Great location for property, walking distance to playa norte, restaraunts, malecon and downtown. Front desk staff need some Customer service training but other than that , get the Ocean view room well worth watching the waves break over the small cove in the front. The pool and lounge area are great. The beach itself needs some raking and some tlc, due to the amount of garbage that floats in from the Ocean. Continental breakfast is bare bones but we enjoyed it. What more do you want coffee, pastries, granola, yogurt and some fruit. staff did a good job on keeping our room tidy. It was safe, quiet at night and a short distance from the tourist rat race of Playa Norte and Centro. We don't live and die by our phones , wifi only in lobby and second level seating area Ocean view side!

    Great location.

The hotel location is excellent. The pool is great. The ocean view is beautiful. The staff makes sincere effort to be helpful. Covid related restrictions converted the advertised breakfast to items delivered to the room the night before. Breakfast was a banana or an apple, and several sugary items (snacks). The room was clean and adequate. A quiet facility which is safe and pleasant.

The views are amazing! The location is great within walking distance to beaches and restaurants. The bed is not so great, but from the reviews I read before going it was expected. Definitely will return.

    Nice enough staff. Rundown Hotel

This hotel is not kept up well and I did not stay past one night. I would never stay here again. The staff was pleasant and accommodating. The facility is rundown and the shower barley worked at all. The pool is very nice and the view is amazing. The bar was gross and never open and when it was had nothing. It’s weird to go to a hotel and have to bring your own beverages including water. I like the vibe of the place but some maintenance is in order and a deep cleaning. I moved next door to Hotel Secreto and it was awesome. To repeat the staff was very nice it was the condition of the place that cause me to leave
