Hole in a wall
Last minute one day add on to our long 8 night trip. We decided to get a cheap hotel and found Banyan. The property is very outdated, the bed was one of those wall pull-down. There was a kitchen for cooking, small fridge, and the bathroom did not have a vent and there’s a window above the shower to the outside. I felt like I was in the Philippines, but expectations weren’t high. Although the quality of the hotel is not to standard, I appreciate the fact that it is located right across from many small & big restaurants. After our first night stay, we relocated to our planned stay at a local resort and I have to tell you, we walked 15 mins just to get back to this area. I also appreciate the fact that they provide beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, etc for free!! Our high paid resort charges for such items. Hence, once again, 4 star.

We stayed 1 night on a layover from Seattle on our way to Fiji and 2 days on our return to Seattle. The staff are friendly and amazingly helpful. Rooms are clean, well appointed with a small kitchenette, good AC, and a Murphy bed you pull down or store away, full size sofa, a chair, abs a TV (we never used). Surprisingly, the nearby night club never disturbed our sleep! The location in Waikiki made for easy walking to the beach, International Marketplace, many restaurants, etc. The Bus has a stop about 1/2 block from the property with easy access to Ala Moana Mall ($3 per person one way). We used to live in Honolulu and we felt like we were returning home. Will certainly stay here again and again when we travel to Fiji via Honolulu!
