Exceptional 10.0
Compact with great location
The Statthotel was perfect for my overnight stay in Zürich. I arrived late, but there was an efficient automated check-in. The room was small, but very pleasant and contained all I needed.

Great locations and comfy space!
It was a great location, and I slept great on the comfy queen sized bed. They have a nicely kept coffee machine with glasses and cups for your conscience and a mini fridge. I didn’t walk more than 20 minutes to where I wanted to go and never took the tram. It is located next to a bar and nightclub/strip club and so I could hear the music from my second story room but I could sleep through it (they do give you ear plugs). I was a tad confused how to get my key outside business hours for the desk (hours are like 9am -5pm) and I got it by asking the bar next door for the code to get in and they have a list of names. I came when o didn’t need air conditioning but I could see on hotter months I would have an issue with the heat since there is only a fan (no AC unit) in the room.

Very Good 8.0
No complaints
Hotel was great, apparently a 1* which is incredible as it was definitely 3.5* in my book. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again

Good location and clean
Bit of a strange set up to get in. Very anonymous but I was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness/modernness of the room itself. Great location. Would stay there again

Fair 4.0
Convenient location, but certainly not luxurious!
This hotel is in a good location close to the shops and restaurants of the old town, although the entrance is in a small alley, which is hard to find and might be unsafe later in the evenings. The room was very small and cramped, and the shower was not suitable for taller people (I'm 5 foot 6 inches and I'd say that the roof of the shower was only a couple of inches above my head)! The staff were friendly and helpful when they were, however the reception desk closed early in the evening. This meant that when I arrived I had to get my key card from a dispensing machine at the front door, by means of a special code. I was unaware of this procedure when I arrived and had to call the contact number and eventually they gave me the code over the phone. Also when I accidentally locked myself out of my room in the evening when the reception wasn't manned, I had to ring the office and get an emergency key card from the machine with a new code. This all seemed very strange and inconvenient to me. The building is old with original wooden beams in the ceiling, which added a bit of character, but the bathroom and hallways stank of plugin air-fresheners. There is free wifi, but you have to keep logging in again every half hour. Otherwise you can pay for wifi to avoid this. As Zurich is an expensive city this hotel perhaps presents a budget-ish option in a very central and convenient location, however if you are looking for a luxurious hotel this isn't it!
