Nice hotel, the staff was very courteous and friendly. Great morning staff at the breakfast buffet. I asked for twin beds , (so I can't rate the comfort of the queen size bed) bit it was very hard and uncomfortable. Just a warning they clean your room even if you put the DO NOT DISTURB sign in your door. So inform them ahead of time that you do not want your room serviced. Other than that, we truly enjoyed the hotel and the location.

Poor 2.0
They don't knock, they walk in to get something!!!
Horrible service, rooms look nothing like the pictures. The room they gave was an attic room which was very misleading as I would have never chose an attic room with a window in the ceiling. To make it worse, the walls were covered with black smudges as though a mechanic wiped his hands on every wall everywhere. The front desk was the worst serve ever. When asked why they gave this room when which is nothing like the picture they provide, the answer was "there is nothing wrong with this room, I personally really like this room". To make it even worse, an employee walked right into the room without even knocking because he had to get something (true story). Then when asked at the front desk why he just came in, they said "he just needed to get something". They were acting as if it is normal to just walk into a room without knocking. Even after all of this, all they did was change the room reluctantly for the second and final night to what was actually paid for. I asked if they could upgrade the room because of everything that happened and again the answer was "you paid for standard room. Talk with your booking agency". I called and they were great in trying to resolve the situation and even gave me a credit back, but the Metropolis hotel lied through their teeth when confronted about what happened and said they changed the room immediately and we were impossible to talk to. No apologies and no responsibility. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AND SELF RESPECT HERE.

Central location but smallish rooms
The locations is great for access to the Vatican, Pantheon, Colosseum, and everything in between. It is not the most spacious of accommodations and there are only a few rooms with Bathtubs even though all rooms indicate a tub/shower The breakfast as well worth the additional cost

If you like a hard bed, this is the place for you
Initially, I thought the room looked great - however, the bed felt like a slab of concrete, the AC barely stirred the air - and it was in the 90s in July - and there were no windows in the room - just a single remote control operated skylight. I was thrilled that I only had one night there as I would not have been able to survive a second night on that awful bed. On the plus side, the free breakfast was a nice assortment, however a little more fruit available would have been welcomed.
