We wanted to try the old Japanese life. The experience was great. The location of the hotel is excellent in Gion. We went sightseeing by foot. There was some misunderstanding about the breakfast so we missed that event. The stuff was kind and helpful.

Close to the Gion wooden area in Kyoto, you can get a lot of sightseeing done right from this hotel. The ryokan itself is lovely, the staff is wonderful, and the room is very nice. They give you yukatas to wear, and the Onsen is great. I had the tub all to myself, and I enjoyed relaxing alone in the steamy waters before going out to a show and dinner.

Neat royukan in the Gion district of Kyoto. Stayed here for our final night in Japan and no regrets! Quiet area with numerous walkable dining options. Close to Kyoto metor lines, and a 20 minute ride to Kyoto station for ¥230.

Fabulous traditional style accommodation Price is high, but it’s convenient to the sights in Gion region. Accessible via bus, probably easier by cab. No fault of the hotel, nearby food options close early. Shops too. A good experience overall.

It was our first stay at a Ryokan so nothing to compare with. We paid the additional price for the Japanese Dinner and Breakfast. The food is not for everyone; a lot of fish and items we never had before. The room was smaller than it looks in the pictures but comfortable enough. The A/C worked but had a hard time keeping the room cool although it was ok as temperature outside wasn't too warm either. It was good for a one-night experience.
