You would think that a hotel built in a 700-year-old monastery on the grounds of the Alhambra would reflect the historic and grand beauty of that place. No, the hotel looks like an ultramodern big city hotel, all glass and chrome. So disappointing. The bar area had all the ambience of a school cafeteria (although the food and service there were excellent). The lighting system in the room was so complicated, we never could figure out what switch did what. Finally, the room was so hot, we could not get comfortable and slept very little both nights we were there. The staff seemed powerless to address the problem. We were told to open our window (in a ground floor room that opened up to a public courtyard.) We were disappointed in this hotel.

Beautiful facility with a perfect location. We were told the dining room had just been redone. But the bright lighting gave the room a commercial feel, rather than the more intimate environment we were expecting. Service was very good, but the food quality was mediocre. Overall, a disappointing dining experience.

We loved our stay. I saw some people gave negative reviews, but I don’t know why. The rooms were comfy, clean and quiet. Location and historical context appeal to the imagination. Staff were friendly and helpful to dumb Americans not speaking any Spanish. We had a great time.

The property is just sublime and the rooms lovely. The kitchen and dining leaves much to be desired. The staff are very friendly. But overwhelmed as it was at capacity. Recommended is to read about the history of the property as well as The Alhambra. Overall it’s the best place to be when visiting the Alahambra
