We stayed for a romantic weekend away. Feels like they haven't quite finished anything.…

The pub/hotel is friendly and clean and the room warm and comfortable. The TV signal was poor so few channel options. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. When you arrive there is no reception area and you have to walk through the hotel to the bar to check in there. Some signage to that effect would be helpful.

Disappointing. Beautiful old building but poorly maintained. Bedroom had large cobwebs, areas of repair that hadn’t been repainted and looked uncared for despite trendy colours and decor. Thankfully had a fan as windows barely open so very hot and stuffy despite cool weather. Right above busy pub courtyard so very noisy until pub closes. No working extractor in windowless bathroom. Access via fire escape type stairs but loose boards on access corridor felt unsafe! Buffet breakfast very limited / poor but a l carte cooked breakfast was excellent. Expected a lot better for £230 a night!

Stayed in one of the courtyard rooms which were spacious, with a good bathroom. On arrival there was a window which we were unble to securely close & it could be opened from outside. This was reported straightaway but nothing was done about it. No hotel information in the room. The room suffered from being adjacent to the local Iceland loading bay & we were awakend on our last night at 6am until 7am when HGV lorry was being unloaded. Access to the upper courtyard stairs was constantly blocked by people eating & drinking in the evening. However, the breakfast and breakfast service was excellent. The location is also excellent. If we stayed again we would not stay in the courtyard rooms.

Rude manager, rooms not cleaned, no coffee in rooms (despite asking), and room noisy. Waiting staff were really friendly tho!

Eclectic, pleasant no-fuss establishment , beautiful building. Stayed in a classic room in the courtyard, very comfy bed and good fresh coffee and tea. Felt snug, sound insulation muffled noise of people talking outside. Staff helpful , overall pleasant stay

Stayed in room 4 which had height restrictions. We are not tall people but still had to duck to avoid banging heads on the beams/ ceiling. Have stayed in other rooms which were much easier to move around in. Ok for 1 night but wouldn’t want to stay in that room again if given the choice. Everything else excellent.

Staff were good humoured, pleasant and efficient. Drinks and all meals were excellent. However, the Archangel’s charming interior style of aged elegance and comfort is now looking rather neglected and shabby. My single occupancy room needed a thorough clean, a new mattress and house keeping staff who cared. The single room was quite compact and access to a good shower was up three steps. I would only recommend the Archangel for drinks and meal until improvements have been made to bring accommodation standards in-line with those of the bar and restaurant.
