A good 3.5 star hotel with some annoying aspects
Iberostar Grande is a very good 3.5 star hotel, but not a 5 star as claimed. It definitely lacks the basic amenities and services of a 5 star hotel. The aspects to consider choosing this hotel are: 1) 4 classes of rooms, from small rooms having no windows to a mini suite; 2) minimal services and stingy supplies: one bottle of water per check-in, no tea or decaf coffee, no shaving kit, no doorman, small lobby, 6 sq m area and only 2 phones allocated for reception/ cashier and concierge, no land telephone lines; 3) poor house keeping with staff coming into room even when ‘do not disturb’ sign is placed on the door handle; 4) a confrontational general manager who should never be in the service industry; 5) it is about 10 minutes walk to downtown (tthe ‘eye of Budapest’) hence quieter. In summary, check what class of room one is booking. The lower 2 classes of room are not worth more than 200 USD per day at any time. Also check if city tax is included.

The Really Grand Hotel
The hotel is in a prime location in the pest side of Budapest. We were able to walk to most places from the hotel. The hotel staff were always friendly and very helpful. Our room was lovely - comfortable bed and great view.

A beautiful hotel with friendly staff. Our room was perfect and the bathroom was the best I have seen in a hotel! The location was perfect if you are planning on going on tours while in Budapest—just a five to ten minute walk to most of our meet up points for tours and cruises. Honestly a perfect hotel in a beautiful city.

Only a 3 star hotel - no breakfast!
As a business traveler it is important for me with a good breakfast since I need energy for the rest of my day. At a 5-star hotel I expect to find a great breakfast buffet including fruit. I also need it early in the morning . Now at Iberostar here is no breakfast buffet! They have a 2-star very simple breakfast where you have to take a table and order your breakfast as a side-dish!!! THe selection is also very poor. They open at 7.00 and you can just imagine what would happen if 20 - 25 guests arrives at the same time.. right - no breakfast that day! Also as a 5-star hotel you would expect to find a business lounge to print and use a computer - not here - there is a printer outside the elevator and they charge 4 Euro to use it! Sorry Iberostar - I only give you 3 star. Room is very clean and modern tough and personnel helpful!
