Negligent Condition, Aggressive Kids Club employee
This was our 2nd time here, but it's gone downhill. First, though we paid for Nikte, there was no advantage for doing so. All guests were allowed to use all pools, whether or not they were with Nikte, we had 1hr+ long waits every morning for the Lunch Box, which was meant to be a Nikte restaurant. We had to wait on lines out the door for breakfast at the buffet. In addition, I slipped and fell on more than one occasion and injured my knee badly INDOORS at non-food locations. Specifically, I fell on an unmopped puddle in dark lighting at the indoor reception area between Fuego and Sal, and my knee is still injured. IMPORTANTLY: I complained about the kids' club's egregious and irresponsible behavior by one if its employees, and nothing was addressed when I asked to speak to the manager. Omar at the kids club let another parent sign out next to my child's name, and when I told him that was problematic, he rolled his eyes and said it was nothing. Someone signed out on my kid's name that wasn't me, and he gave me an attitude when I tried to discuss it. Then he kept raising a really bizarre "issue" where he kept saying my son passed gas. My son said he did by accident and outdoors, but that Omar kept saying he did it on purpose and humiliated him in front of other kids. They also mentioned this to me like it was incredibly serious. When I said I would speak to the manager about it all, he slammed the table and yelled "GO!" aggressively. Nikte never followed up. So disappointed

Literally my only complaint about this property is that there weren't enough hooks in the room to hang wet bathing suits and towels. The staff is beyond amazing, especially our concierge Nestor Herrera, who helped with everything from dinner reservations to setting up surprises in the room for our son, to personally seeing us off at check-out. There are several restaurants to pick from and 24 hour room service is also included. The food was as good as was expected for a resort, there was never a wait for a table, and meals arrived hot and fast. The pools and grounds are cleaned continuously and our rooms were always restocked with fresh snacks and bottles of water. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our stay at Paradisus Playa del Carmen.

I liked: two areas (Family and Adult only); fun pool options; excellent dining options, kids care centre, pool service & protocols, exceptional service from porters; activities for kids.; resort maps posted; Beach access and service; room fridge had good supply of refreshments including water; great activities in plaza every night. Resort wifi. Didn't like: eco-water suggestions re laundry not being adhered to (room service changed towels everyday when requested not to); no wine in fridge; some disconnect between registration desk and porters; 2-tier system somewhat problematic..(some of the family was Reserve and some not, so couldn't always hang out together. However , everyone treated well by staff).. ; wildlife in pool area raiding food left unattended; no paper maps of resort provided (was given a photocopy but couldn't make out what anything was on the map);

We were a family of 4 (2 young adult children). Had asked for 2 rooms close to each other with second room to have 2 separate beds for the adult children (had stated that a couple of times in the booking/confirmation emails). They gave us rooms with king beds in both and never stated they couldn’t provide us with what was requested. So we needed to have a single uncomfortable cot brought in for our tall children to sleep on. Other than the bed situation, the rooms were clean and roomy. Had great drink and food service while lounging on the beach - did not hit the pools. Our biggest disappointment was the buffet dining in the adult side of the resort. We found that if you didn’t partake in the “made to order” items, all other hot foods were either lukewarm or even cold. And the selection of different food options each day at the buffet wasn’t overly enticing. We tried to hit up as many of the restaurants as we could for dinner and we enjoyed (Sal Steak, Bana Asian, Cappella Italian and Mole Mexican), the Market Grill was a big disappointment - each plate had undercooked and over cooked items. And we saw other patrons also leaving their meals at the same time. We were also placed in the “Reserve” building of the resort but were told we would need to pay extra to upgrade to be allowed to use the pools at our building and even partake in the snack/drink area in the lobby of our own building. That seemed weird considering how much we had already paid $$$$.

The majority of the staff were wonderful. Very friendly and kind. The hotel was clean and beautiful. Hector the activities guy was super fun and really has a way of getting people involved. I have been to several all inclusive resorts and the buffet food options at this was my least favourite. There were not many options, not a lot of variety. The same roasted vegetables at dinner were being served at breakfast. I would have expected better options from a higher rated resort. Thankfully they have many restaurants but you need to reserve and do so on your day of arrival for the duration, otherwise you may not get in. Also, be careful because there are items on the menu that are not free, not included in your all inclusive price. Another thing I have not experienced before. If you pay extra at this resort you get excellent service and your own concierge. You have access to a couple other restaurants, you have primo seating on the beach with a bar two steps away, you have access to the covered loungers...if you do not pay extra you do not have access to these things. We did not book the extra. I didn't like that they do this, basically separating two classes of people. An all inclusive is an all inclusive, not a partial all inclusive. Maybe this is the way of the world now, I don't know but I have never experienced it and I think it is wrong, just my opinion. Overall it was a nice place, awesome vacation with our large family...but I would not go back to this resort.
