Hospitable Stay at Marilu's Place
My wife and I stayed two nights at Marilu's B & B beginning March 15 at 11:30pm. Our flight had been delayed by one hour and she was very kind to stay up, greet us, and check us in. Her place is located within walking distance of many interesting sites and shopping areas. The bed wax very comfortable and the bathroom facilities were sufficient. Breakfasts were simple but tasty (eggs, toast, jam, cheese, sliced meat, coffee). We had originally planned to take a day long tour of Valparaiso on March 16th, but it was canceled the morning of the tour due to new Chilean government Coronavirus regulations. Marilu suggested a tour of the Los Dominicos area and nearby artesanal village for shopping. Then, on to Vitacura Street and some lovely areas of town. We chose to walk the route instead of taking the subway, bus, or taxi. We logged over 15 miles on a very pleasant day. We paid a little extra on March 17th to stay until 5pm. This enabled us to eat a late lunch and shower before or flight back to the USA. The people of Chile's travel industry are on our hearts as they cope with shutdowns due to Coronavirus health concerns.

Great Place with wonderful Owner
Marilu the owner is fantastic! She has so much information about Santiago and tours of the area. She is quite the resource for how to get around the city and general information of sites to see. She is also very accomodating toward guests staying there. Super helpful in arranging transportation. The location is also excellent and very easy to get to from the airport. Lots of popular tourist areas are within walking area. The one big problem I had was Santiago streets are very frequently without signs so a good idea would be to get other landmarks to know your on the right street. Fire Station right close serves a good lunch at very good price Mon-Fri. plus you can take it away for later eating.

Comfortable room and wonderful breakfast
We stayed for 3 nights (two separate occasions) and were very pleased. Breakfast was really good (best we had in Chile) and we were made to feel very comfortable and welcome. Marilu let us store our bags before check-in and prepared our breakfast early on our last morning. She speaks English and can help you with directions or sightseeing. Metro station Salvador on the red line is about a 5 minute walk and there are many cafes and stores within walking distance. The neighborhood is very safe and a good base to explore Santiago. Very happy we chose to stay here. As budget travelers it was a great value and fit our needs perfectly.
