If you are travelling from North America these hotels are not the same as what we are used to. Hallways are narrow, rooms are smaller than what we are used to and rare to find a room with 2 queen beds for example. Our room was a double and two singles. It appeared like they were doing some renovations based on equipment and product behind some glass doors and some missing baseboards in the hall but I never saw or heard any renovations actually taking place. The location of this hotel is great, right on the Queensway with tons of shops and quick food options, a couple pubs and the best part for us was how close it was to both the Circle/District Line and the Central Line. The mall that is just steps away is virtually empty with only a few shops left so don't base your decision on proximity to it. You are also extremely close to Hyde Park. The hotel is unassuming but the staff are friendly enough. The room was quiet at night but I'm not sure how full the hotel was, it is noisy in the mornings with the cleaning staff doing rooms and the hallways being so narrow. Free wifi was solid. We did not do the breakfast option. We would stay here again.

recommend it
Very good location (close to Kensington Gardens and 2 metro stations) and very helpful staff. The room (with 1 double bed) is small.I liked the breakfast, it was enough to start the day. Despite its cons, I would stay in this hotel again.

Unsure about the nearby carnival but hotel was OK
We arrived late, check in was fine. Room was on second floor facing the street side. Nearby neighborhood had some carnival going on; as a result there were lots of rowdiness. Bayswater underground station nearby, lots of police b/c of the carnival and crowd control. Police told us just take our children to central London during the day and then told us to come back to hotel directly; recommended that we don't walk around until the carnival was over. After the carnival was over, the neighborhood was much better. There are lots of restaurants, Tesco, Sainsbury, M&S and Boots nearby. Hotel staff was helpful. Rooms are decorated in a minimalist approach. Breakfasts were good. If we come back, we would ask for a room not facing the street and we not come back during carnival time.

This is an excellent location. Close to the tube, lots of restaurants, And Hyde Park. The rooms are fairly small but we only used ours for sleeping so this was not a problem. The breakfast was a great feature and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating.
