Great elevated location - town easily accessible but far enough away to feel private. Great pools and plenty of sun loungers. Easy check in etc. Appartment bigger than expected - could easily accommodate another adult / teenage child with a sofa bed in the lounge. Would have liked a bigger sofa as only 3 inside comfortable seats.

Great location in a cute little fishing village
This is a lovely property in a great location. We paid for a sea view, which is worth the extra money. Although, our sea view was only from one end of the patio. We also upgraded to a "superior" room, although I don't believe our apartment qualified as such. It was dated and dark. There was mold on the shower curtain and it was just a bit neglected. I suppose we paid for the view, but I was under the impression we were also paying for a nicer apartment. Each unit is individually owned, so it's a bit of a gamble where they put you. We stayed here a few years ago and had a wonderful apartment, although no view. I will probably stay here again, but with much lower expectations. They did allow us into the room early and gave us a late check out. Office staff were very nice. Quick 5-7 walk into down, down a steep hill.

Fantastic as always
This was our third time staying at Monte Dourado and as always it definitely lived up to expectations. The room and amenities within the complex were spotless, albeit some amenities within the room could’ve done for an update (fridge, shower, balcony furniture) however this is nit picking as the view from our room and the comfort and cleanliness more than made up for this. Throughout our stay we received such friendly and helpful service as we always have done, which combined with the above means we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again! Thank you for another amazing stay.

Our apartment at Monte Dourado was excellent. It was very comfortable and very spacious. 2 big bedrooms and bathrooms, a large balcony, plenty of kitchen appliances to cook, and was really close to the Carvoeiro shops and restaurants.

Great value for money.
It’s up a big hill with narrow pavements & there are a series of steep up & down steps in the apartment block. No lifts. The location is good though 5 mins to shops, bars & restaurants & the beach. The apartment itself was beautiful, spacious & very well appointed, including the kitchen. There was a good degree of privacy & the maid service was good too. We always had plenty of clean towels. Pools were lovely, not enough sunbeds for everyone but we were able to find some at another pool in the complex. Some of the sunshades were in need of maintenance. Reception was strange. Only staffed during business hours & not like a hotel reception with helpful staff. No porters or assistance offered for luggage or information on the facilities or local attractions. Really just an expensive key repository. I’d have preferred to have been given the code for a key locker so I could have avoided it. Don’t expect any kind of service there. Worth mentioning quite a few of the apartments were for sale & a stranger approached me poolside regarding where I was staying because she was meeting someone. I found it a little disconcerting. I think she might have been an estate agent. Overall I felt safe but it’s a small village & wasn’t peak busy due to the pandemic.
