Noisy, no reliable internet and no staff onsite

The Timber House Resort is well located and pretty charming. However, the walls are really thin and you can hear absolutely everything that goes on in the nearby rooms, and in the hallway. There is no staff onsite, and unfortunately, the people from the room across from mine saw it as an opportunity to let their children race in the hallway, yelling during the day. At night, the kids were making so much noise that I had to go and ask them to please be mindful of other guests. They tuned it down, but they kept of coming in and out of the room and up and down the stairs until 4am, which prevented me and other guests from sleeping because of the lack of soundproofing. No staff onsite also meant no enforcing face covering in public areas. The internet is VERY slow, no matter the time of the day or night. Opening emails was a struggle, so video conferencing the next morning was out of the question. A very disappointed stay!

    Lovely Inn style lodging

The name Timber House accurately describes the type of place. There are beautiful exposed architectural timber beams and the place is more like a large house than a hotel or B&B. Meaning there is a common kitchen & living room area. This could be good or bad depending on the type of stay you're looking for.

We just got back from our mini vacay and it was awesome. First trip with our 4 month old and we were comfortable in our clean and spacious room. The common kitchen had all the amenities to wash baby bottles and keep them in the fridge. The pool was lovely and clean. Staff were very friendly. This would be great to come back to with a big group!

Location is pretty good. And it feels like a cottage stay. The food truck is an excellent idea. We loved our stay. I wish the pool was open though.

    It served its purpose

We booked 3 rooms in November. The location was good and easy to get to with big road signs. When we got there there was another family on the second level that took the common area. We did not feel comfortable to stay. The rooms were a good size however one room did not have access to the TV as there were no instructions. Tried to change the input with no success. Another room did not have a shower head on the shower. They offer a hot breakfast that we did not take advantage of nor could it be eaten due to food sensetivities. There was no one around to assist with any issues. It was a self check in and out. For the price, we would have preferred a hotel in Trenton or Bellville.

    Super clean but otherwise disappointing

Positives: Impeccably clean room - 1 of cleanest rooms I've stayed in recently, the one staff member we saw was smiley. No staff there other than in the morning. Negatives: I worked in hotels for years, so am incredibly reluctant to leave bad reviews, but this was disappointing. We booked this for a quiet night and for the private beach - no mention anywhere on their site or in the venue of the fact that the lake is so high this year there's no beach anymore. Water right up to the rocks. Not their fault, but should be mentioned. Room next door to the kitchen (room 1 - 1 of the two with pool access), so dishes clanking, dishwasher gushing and throbbing, cutlery clinking from just after 7am. Impossible to sleep through. No soundproofing. Lukewarm breakfast buffet of eggs, bacon, toast... so perplexing there was that much noise for just two plain trays of food. No butter for toast. Poolside table outside our room grubby, two of three chairs so frayed looked unsafe to sit on. Overall: This is officially a B&B, but with ten rooms, it has more of a hotel feel... with small hotel numbers of other guests to cook for. Maybe some rooms are not beside kitchen or shared guest kitchen or under stairs, worth asking when booking. Maybe you're just dropping in on your way somewhere else, in which case, maybe it's handy. Maybe it's great for weddings - the tent + airy great room looked lovely. Otherwise, not worth the money in any way.

Clean and very beautifully built place for sure. The breakfast was good as well. The only thing was the walls and floors are not that insulated. Basically you can hear upstairs walking and outside talking haha. Other than that it was good!

I found this place to be a little jem. The rooms the bathrooms all very clean. We were able to make our own lunch in the common kitchen. There was a pool just outside our door the kids loved it. Felt very safe. Some of the doors did stick but not a big deal. The only thing that I would say would be I would have liked to have made a coffee. The coffee maker they had in the common room was already set up for the next day. And I didn't want to use that. Besides that excellent place to stay
