The hotel was simply beautiful. The staff are friendly. The promotion for the area(La Ronda) did not live up to my expectation. When we arrived Tuesday evening, the street location of thehotel was simply dead but we saw a few groups of males standing around. For a while I got scared. That fear did not disappear until Friday evening prior to our departure when the street livened up with several young people all walking towards one direction where there was some loud music. I expected it to be more lively. I did not venture going out by myself since I was still a little afraid .

The staff were helpful and welcoming. It was a beautiful place to stay even though it was on a noisy pedestrian street filled with restaurants and bars.

This beautiful old structure is a hidden gem. Please remember that it is situated on a pedestrian walkway. This means it is not accessible by car. You have to walk down a pedestrian walkway or walk up another pedestrian walkway to meet the cross street where it is that it is situated . You’ll have to carry your luggage there. The service was excellent, and felt homey but very old world. It reminded me of old cities in Syria and Morocco. But the hotel self managed to maintain a modern clean demeanor. They have a central courtyard where everything looks into. They serve an afternoon tea or coffee with Sweets. It was wonderful to come back from the day and have a relaxing sit with tea or coffee. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. The linens are soft like Egyptian cotton.

The attention to the guests' concerns was extraordinary. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are tastefully decorated and a pleasure to look at. However, the rooms facing the street might be a bit noisy, especially during weekends or street festivities. Because the hotel is located in a pedestrian area, taxis cannot drive to the entrance of the hotel and people have to carry their luggage from an intersection to the hotel. The breakfast is in our opinion a bit over prized, probably three times the price compared to other locations.

This colonial-style hotel in the arts and crafts district of Quito is a great place to stay if you enjoy being in non-chain, unique boutique accommodations. The staff were all great, but the manager, Maria, went the most out of her way to assure our group of four had the very best experience possible while we stayed in Quito. She was particularly helpful resolving a double booking one night. I highly recommend this hotel.

Spent two nights here in January 2014 and loved it! The place has so much charm, it has been restored with great care and taste. Beds are really comfortable, good (free) wifi, OK bathrooms (shower could be better - not enough water pressure for my taste). Their restaurant serves great food, the staff is lovely (not to say AMAZING) and the location is excellent, especially if you prefer to be in the Centro Historico (old town). Ask for a room facing the inner courtyard for more peace and quiet. A little pricy at around US$150 a night, but a definite winner!

Great historic boutiques hotel. Bear in mind you are at altitude and there are stairs. The restaurant is terrific and so is the service.
