There was nothing to fault with hotel. Location was great, rooms were nice and big and staff polite and friendly. I think however that in booking a 5 star hotel I was expecting something a little more exceptional. This felt more like a good 4 star hotel than the 5 star experience I had hoped for. Some of the decor felt a little dated, room facilities could be moderninsed (i.e. some USB sockets), TVs offered very limited channels and were really hard to work, breakfast was very average and the gym was stiflingly hot. I had also mentioned that we were arriving on my wife's 40th birthday and for our honeymoon - there was no obligation for the hotel to do anything about this but I'd half expected a small acknowledgement. When booking accomodation for special occasions before, I have often been greeted with something like a bottle of fizz on arrival. Its just these extra little touches that can set a hotel apart that were missing.
