Good option in the Westminster area!

Fair 4.0
We were a family of four and we thought we were reserving a double room with bath. The Blades Hotel website indicates that all rooms are ensuite, not so. Our reservation stated "private bath" that usually means room with bath, not so. Our bath was outside the room down a long public hallway to the other end of the building. They did give us a key to the tiny very cramped bathroom and called it "private" but it was certainly not ensuite, nor attached. At a price exceeding $440C which was the most expensive hotel we stayed in during a three week trip across England and where all the other hotels had ensuite baths, we expected more and should have received it. Other guests said that they did have ensuite baths but the rooms were very cramped. The rooms were very hot and stuffy, no air conditioning, which is normal in older hotels and they did give us a small fan, but the one window opened to the street which was quite noisy.

Small, but did the job
As a solo traveller I was given the smallest room in the hotel located at the top of five flights of skinny, Victorian stairs. The key to the room was probably as old as the building itself, which added to the Victorian theme but was hard to fit in your pocket and impossible to lock/unlock your room quickly. The room was quite small--6.5' by 7.5'--but BLADES had warned me about that in advance. The room was just big enough for a twin size bed, a small table, and an ensuite. Although the room was small, its location couldn't be beat. Surrounded by pubs, a grocery store, and a good Thai restaurant, I never felt strapped for food/entertainment. The hotel is moments from Pimlico station, which is great for getting around the city and going to Victoria Station to catch your London-Gatwick Express train at 7 a.m. If you're the kind of traveller who really only uses the hotel as a place to store your stuff, this hotel will suite you just fine. If you prefer a little more from your accommodations, I would look elsewhere.
