It's more a 2.5 stars, than 4!
Greeted at reception, told one room had an 'upgrade' so was happy about that. Saw the 2 rooms we had as our group, the small double room is tiny and only big enough for 1, in my opinion. The 'upgraded room' was a decent size but was not very clean. There were hairs on my pillows, the shower room was very dusty, with the previous occupants contact lenses still on the side. The room itself was very loud and the reception closed at 10pm so couldn't report loud neighbours upstairs.
The hotel is quite a walk, so if you're not used to steep walks, or are disabled, I wouldn't recommend this hotel. The lifts can barely get 3 people in, so wheelchair users would really struggle.
The description said an ipod docking station in each room, that's a lie! The TV had 6 channels all in Portuguese. The main lights for the room didn't work, so there was a floor lamp, where the on off switch didn't work, so you had to unplug it.
Location wise, it's OK. Its close to lots of bars and restaurants, though at weekends it does get busy, and the locals don't come out until around 10-11pm, so you may not be able to get an early night for that early start you want.
Overall not very happy with the hotel, its nowhere near a 4 star hotel. I'd say 2.5 stars, at best! Please don't pay over the odds to stay here!!
