Disorganised, noisy area but clean and comfortable
Careful if checking in late in the evening, when I arrived there was no manager and I was checked in by one of the pub's barstaff who was not fully knowledgeable about the staying over guests side of things, like where the right key was for the room. Room not checked before I came, light bulb not working, had to wait for it to be replaced as only one in the room. Was meeting friends and had to get changed in the shared bathroom whilst waiting for access to my room. Otherwise relatively clean and comfortable for the price and location. Would suggest you only stay if you are there to be out all night yourself as it is in an area of bars and clubs and was very noisy until 4am on a Saturday.

Fab piece of history, but not great for a family
The Old Crown is a stunning building with fantastic history. Our room was huge and immaculately clean. You really felt as if you were living in a piece of history with crooked walls, uneven floors etc. However, it isn't the place to stay on a Saturday night with children. Mostly our fault as we didn't research a) the pub opening hours and b) the local area, so it was very busy noisy and we couldn't find anywhere to eat locally that would take children. Again, not a fault of the pub, mainly us choosing the wrong day to go. Really central for anyone wanting to be close to the nightclubs. The pub has a huge heated beer garden, again great for anyone wanting a good night out. Would come back, but without the children next time!

Excellent bar & hotel
Great hotel! I'd avoid the place if you want to get to sleep early, though - the bar is very busy, and was open until 1am (Friday and Saturday). 'd also recommend the breakfast - it wasn't expensive, and was significantly better than average.

I stayed here with my Mother in law in the family suite. It was an adventure. First off, how fun to stay in an historic building!? This place was just full of character and interesting history. The service was amazing, the entire staff was helpful and kind, full of energy. The food was delicious! Its well located, walking distance to the Bull Ring.

Poor 2.0
Avoid like the plague
Most noisy disturbed night ever, being right on the main road, constant traffic noise. The secondary glazing was of no use.

Lovely host and lovely building, would be cool to be told a bit more of the history but I guess most people don’t come for that.

Lovely staff, a clean room and such a gorgeous building. The noise drifting up from the pub garden was noticeable, but easy enough to sleep through. A great spot to stay in central Birmingham - everything we needed was walking distance!

Great characterful stay
Easy check in. Cheap 24hr parking 2 min walk away (£4 per night). Great breakfast and friendly service in the pub.
