Centurion Hotel Grand Akasaka, Tokyo

Old and not well worn.
Akasaka is a vibrant area with a great night life. Do not expect much from this hotel though. It is old and not well taken care of; our room was not at all as described. The bathroom was great but the room is remarkably tiny. The wall paper was scraped up, patched and colored over, the carpet was old and worn. I'm happy it was 3 nights only and would not stay there again. Look closely at the description of hotels in this area, and read them in detail before booking. The staff was friendly though.

Clean, but Small
The staff are helpful and friendly. Room is small, which may be common by Japanese standards. The size of the room reminded me of living in a dorm. The room and bathroom are very clean.

Comfortable Stay in Good Location
Great value for money. Great location. We stayed 9 nights with 1 toddler in Jan 2018. Closest metro stop: Akasaka Mitsuke (3 minute walk) or Akasaka (5 to 10 min walk). Can get to Ginza, Akihibara, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Roppongi without transferring (all about 2 to 5 stops away). Tokyo metro is fantastic so you can get anywhere. They will provide umbrellas you can borrow if it rains. Lots of good food nearby (Sushi Kan, Sushi no Midori, Ittenbari Ramen). Starbucks, McDonalds, grocery store 10 min walk. 7Eleven across street - snacks and will heat up prepared food. Rooms small but typical for Japan. Sofa bed in the Superior Double room was very firm. Shower water pressure was fantastic. If you're into Japanese beauty, comes with 4-step Japanese skincare regimen (oil, foaming face wash, toner, moisturizer) plus full set of toiletries (razor, shower cap plus all the shower products). Hot breakfast was fantastic: (i) English style: Eggs, bacon, toast, lettuce, corn flakes with milk; AND (ii) Asian style: baked salmon, tofu, rice, Japanese style curry, either meatballs or chicken, miso soup. Toddler friendly: provided a crib (requested in advance), affiliated with a local indoor playroom. No gym but went to the Imperial Palace (15 min walk) and ran the loop around the palace (5k?). No fan in the washroom. With toddler and stroller, we booked bus transfer to Narita through front desk to avoid metro (3,100 yen/pp, child free) - pickup at Excel Tokyu Hotel (3 min walk).

Great hotel! Clean and convenient.
Convenient location, only 4 minutes walk to metro. Lots of restaurants in the area. It was hard to find vegetarian options though, but that is typical for Japan, I guess. Free spa pass was nice too.
