Nice hotel in old Lyon
Hotel is nicely located on walking distance to all major city attractions. It's newly renovated but located in the old building so you can see the traditional lyonese architecture inside. Its connected to bigger 4 starts hotel College. Staff is very helpful.

This hotel was quite cheap, and you get what you pay for. Good aspects - good location, good shower, room clean. However entry is via a side passage which, although clean, is poorly maintained, and the spiral staircase to the rooms needs maintenance eg walls need painting and flooring needs replacing. Room (114) is basic with uneven flooring and no view from the window. Breakfast was available at a neighbouring hotel - and I really didn't want to have to put on coat, hat and gloves to go to breakfast on a cold winter morning. Wifi was available but I got a warning message on my phone to disconnect due to suspicious activity, and my computer wouldn't connect at all - not ideal when I had come for a business meeting and had work to do. The Expedia site is confusing about hours when reception is open and when it is necessary to go to neighbouring hotel.

perfectly fine, if not a bit noisy
This hotel is perfectly adequate. You're in the heart of the historic quarter and close to plenty of transportation. You also are in historic buildings which makes the experience feel pretty authentic. The room I had was pretty small but it was fine for me alone. There is no AC but that wasn't a problem for me but it may be an issue for someone else. My room was street side and so it was very noisy at night since there are bars and restaurants right next door.

It was in a good location but it’s basic. Needed air conditioning as it gets very warm in the room.

I chose this hotel for its location: right in the old town. The room is reasonably clean but there is mold in the shower. The room is dark because the window faces the courtyard. No one at the reception so you have to go to the hotel across the street to check in. The hotel is noisy due to guests lugging their luggage down the stairs.

A beautiful old building in the heart of Old Lyon
The Hotel Saint Paul is a wonderful example of its own area. Old and full of character. It is built around its own small courtyard like many of the buildings in Vieux Lyon so you feel a sense of history there. No air conditioning which made sleeping difficult during an intense heat wave but hardly the Hotel's fault nut but I personally think that multitude of a/c units would detract from the ambience of the hotel. Would it suit everyone? No, it is old and no mod cons but if you want history where else would you go! Things to improve. Make the Courtyard useable for guests. And investigate the history of the building.
