Absolutely loved this property!
I sincerely can not rate this little gem of a hotel highly enough. It's ideally located with free on-site parking and amazing views. I would absolutely stay here again if I ever get the chance to visit Maui again. We took advantage of their on-site laundry and it was only $1 for each the wash and dry! I just think that speaks to the level of not-ripping-you-off this hotel cares about. They also had a stash of beach supplies that you could choose from for free (chairs, coolers, floaties, boogie boards, etc.)! Julio is the manager of the property and he is kind and helpful. I adored my stay at MaKai Sunset Inn. (Just be sure you book the exact room you want. Some of them don't have air conditioning, ocean views, etc.).

We had a nice stay. We were in the Standard Studio Suite on the second floor across from the office and it was clean and had everything we needed. The room feels a little outdated, but again it was clean which was the most important thing to me. We did have a few ants on the kitchen sink and on the bathroom sink, but they seemed to stay in those areas so it didn't bother me. Parking spots are limited at the hotel but we only had trouble finding a spot one night when we got back late (that night we ended up parking about a block away at the end of the street and our rental car was fine). The hotel is in a residential area about a mile away from all of the restaurants on Front Street, so a few nights we ended up walking to dinner, which was nice. I had the pleasure of chatting with the manager, Julio, a couple of times during our stay and he couldn't be a nicer guy. If you're looking for luxury, then this isn't the place for you, but if you are looking for a clean, affordable room then this fits the bill.

Quiet and great price for a wonderful get away
Loved this quiet humble place. Lots of privacy. Kind staff. Watch Sea Turtles every day right next to the rocky beach. The kitchen worked great. Simple place and wonderful spot. Kitchen worked great. Occasionally we had tiny ants in our room which is in need of a long term fix.
