Hôtel Daval, Paris

The hotel itself was fine. Small, but manageable. The biggest issue we had was the street noise. Friday and Saturday nights were very loud due to nearby clubs. We are generally tolerant to noise, but this was a lot and it affected our sleep. Otherwise, on a Sunday night, this hotel was perfect for our needs. Good location, near the metro, friendly staff.

With only one day in Paris we feel like we hit the jackpot with this quiet clean friendly hotel. The staff was great upon arrival allowing us to store our luggage there until 1:00pm check in. Our room was perfect for our family of 4 with comfortable beds/linens, great storage area in the room for our luggage and a mid/small room. Bathroom was efficient and even a makeup mirror which was a nice touch. Our windows opened onto a quiet street. The location just one transfer stop on the Orange #5 line from Bastille Metro was awesome. The adjacent streets overflowed on Saturday night with young people enjoying great bars and restaurants -- (yes we felt a bit oldish at 50...but felt welcome and had a great dinner w the kids; age 12 & 18) I have to imagine this area is a nightlife hot spot but maybe all of Paris is like this at night :) We left early Sunday morning amid a HUGE market being set up just steps from the hotel, I wish we could have stayed one more day to explore more. I'd totally recommend this hidden gem! Took the metro to the airport and it was slick, but we almost missed our flight -- check in & security at CDG (hugest airport ever) was running 2 hours. Plan to leave hotel 4 hours prior to flight if you're taking the metro!!!

We're shocked to find out that bathroom door has openings under the door and has no fan inside. Because when we entered first all we can smell was urine, I'm not going to suggest anyone to stay there!!!!!

There's an issue about the light that short circuit happened on the first night of our stay. We called the reception and a staff came to fix it. While he's re-lighting the light, we saw some sparks came from the air conditioner. We told him but he thought everything's fine. The short circuit happened again next morning. An other lady came to fix it but we requested to change a room this time. She refused and thought it might be the problem of our appliances. When we left the hotel that morning, the receptionist offered to change a room for us (as we still have two more nights to stay). We're happy with her offer which made us feel safe. The mattress of the sofa bed is poor, couldn't sleep very well.
