My husband and I stayed here for our recent NYC elopement and it was truly amazing! This is the cutest boutique hotel in a great location. From the beginning the staff was so nice and helpful, and accommodating holding our bags before check in. They even sent us champagne to our room, and allowed us to take some wedding photos at their rooftop bar before it opened. We had the best time and will absolutely be back!

Aug to Sept 2023 Stay
We stayed here for our daughter’s NYU freshman year week. Had a great time. Quieter neighborhood but still convenient to walk to subways and NYU campus area. Easy walk to many area restaurants. 24/7 corner deli market nearby. We had a 12th floor room that had a great view of the Hudson River and Jersey City. Friendly check in and courteous doormen. Free coffee at the Felix Roasting Co downstairs. Nice view from the rooftop. Room was clean, had a mini fridge and nice updated room. Nice, quiet respite after a long day of seeing the sights, came back to a well air conditioned room and a nice shower. Would stay here again.

Very Dissatisfied
From my first interaction with the front desk to check out I was greeted with attitude and unfriendliness. I did not feel welcome, in fact I felt like I was a burden. In addition to this, my first room had only scalding hot water at the bathroom sink and the telephone in the room was not charged and did not work. The second room I was assigned was on level 2 and had a direct view of the level 1 roof which had empty beer cans and water bottles scattered in plain view. I decided to go up to the roof top bar and have a drink and enjoy the sunset but learned only AFTER I purchased my 20$ glass of wine that in order to sit down ANYWHERE in the bar you have to make a reservation in advanced. I was forced to stand awkwardly while I tried to enjoy my wine. The next morning, I decided to explore the neighborhood and picked up a coffee and pastry from a nearby bakery. I walked back to the hotel to sit out front on the hotels patio and enjoy my morning but was told I could not sit there as I did not purchase my coffee and pastry from the coffee shop downstairs in the hotel. Bottom line I will NEVER stay at a Hotel Hugo again. All of this happen in less than 24 hrs…this terrible experience was absolutely not worth the price I paid.
