All Around Great Choice
You can't go wrong in choosing the Alda. We judge a hotel on three criteria; bed, shower, and location. Alda scored high in all three areas. The bed was a solid and comfortable landing spot after a day of exploring with individual duvet covers for each of us (sounds silly, but a huge hit). The shower was a little puzzling in operation, but once mastered worked well. Everything we wanted to see was within walking distance. Crampons helped with the ice and snow covered sidewalks, but we couldn't have asked for a more convenient location. Extra points for Brass, the small bistro within the hotel site. You will like it here.

The best stay and the best people!
Where do I begin — as someone who travels a whole lot, this has been one of the best experiences I’ve had. Weeks before I arrived, I sent numerous messages with questions about Iceland, tours, etc, and I got a response to each question within the day. The staff went above and beyond and gave me 5-star service and I wasn’t even in the country yet! Once I got there, the hotel was right smack in the best area of Reykjavík. It is in the main shopping street of the city where all the action happens. Our room was terrific — very spacious, clean, and modern. The toiletries were top of the line too. But what separates this hotel from all others is the service. Wow did I get service deluxe. Special mention must be thrown Kelly’s way — she spent hours with me looking for the best possible tours for my family. I was literally right beside her on her desk. Not once was she impatient even though I had so many demands and questions. She was pleasant and I felt very comfortable and at home with her. I feel very sorry that I wasn’t able to say goodbye since my flight was very early in the morning on my fifth day. Torunn, who sits beside her, was a pleasure as well. I miss the hotel and the people who work there, so much so that I want to plan my next trip to Iceland at the earliest possible convenience. Especially since the northern lights didn’t come out during my 5 days in this beautiful country. I very much recommend anyone to stay at Alda. I’ll be visiting again! -Paolo

We had an amazing experience staying here! We had a king attic room and the view was incredible! The staff was helpful and kind. The restaurant was awesome as was the staff. It is in the perfect location for exploring the city via walking. We went on a few tours and the bus stop was walking distance from the hotel which was great. We definitely recommend staying here and will be back if we return to Iceland again!!
