Very nice property in a quite well kept area. This is an older motel which is in good condition but rooms are aged. Very clean and comfortable. No coffee maker in room and bottled water was not in room.

Don't judge this book by its cover.
You could easily pass by the Anchor Motel and that would be your loss. It is a rather dated 50's style motel located on the highway between North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls in New York. To be honest there is nothing to draw you into the lot. If you do go in, however, here is what you will find: 1. Very friendly and helpful owners in Kathy and Amir. 2. Clean rooms. 3. Premium linen (The sheets and towels are more like the sheets and towels you would find at hotels in the $300/night range. The towels we had in the room in the hotel we stayed in the night before were like drying off with sandpaper.) 4. Very comfortable beds. 5. A very nice view of the Niagara River from the back of the house. 6. A free bbq on Saturday night. (We were only staying on Friday night and Amir seemed genuinely sad that we could not attend on Saturday. He invited us even though we were not staying there on Saturday. 7. Simple but adequate treats in the morning. 8. Did I mention the friendly and helpful owners.

Diamond in the rough
New ownership for the last couple years has revived this old school motel/resort. Kathy, the co owner with her husband Amir have done an excellent job getting the Anchor back to a better than acceptable level. If you are expecting national chain stuff, book elsewhere. If you want local charm, a great view of the river from the property, and close proximity to everything Niagra, this is the place to be.
